@tyrionstongue
you were my brother anakin! and to some extent my wife!
I want a game that uses Disco Elysium's same insanely well crafted narrative system and wonderful writing but it's about a young witch trying to solve the disappearance of her neighbor's cat in a small village in the Alps, and also Measurehead is there.
Zack Polanski needs to fucking log off. Jesus Christ, shut the fuck up. You don’t need to have a take, the Tories were in crisis, we don’t need your opinion.
I'm deeply unwell about 'Nygma frees Penguin's Mind' from the Gotham OST. Especially after noticing that it plays in exactly three scenes across Seasons 2 and 3. In each of these three scenes, Oswald Cobblepot's craving to be loved is being pitted against his craving to be untouchable. (Nobody in the world, by definition, can have both). 1) The namesake of the soundtrack. 02x09, 'A Bitter Pill to Swallow.'
Ed Nygma 'frees Penguin's mind' by telling him that the murder of Oswald's mother has eliminated his biggest weakness. Oswald reacts with fury, and holds a knife to Ed's neck, screaming that his mother was the only one who ever cared about him. By this point in the story, Ed knows him well enough to know the exact words to move him: if Oswald loves nobody, then he is "a man who cannot be bargained, a man who cannot be betrayed, a man who answers to no one but himself." Oswald never wants to be the powerless person he was in Season 1 again. Dependent on the goodwill of superiors in a world where betrayal is more certain than death. His disability (the result of his former boss smashing his legs) makes him more vulnerable still. Even Ed is unthreatened as Oswald's shaking hand presses a blade to his throat. Consciously embodying the phlegmatic detachment he invites Oswald to pursue. To set the Penguin free. Prior to this, Oswald had been telling himself that everything he did to fight his way to the top in Gotham's terrible criminal underworld, he did for his mother. But if that were true, why does he mask the very Hungarian heritage she cherishes, going by Cobblepot when she knows she is Kapelput? 2) 03x02, 'Burn the Witch.'
Once again, the Penguin is in a position to kill someone who sees right through him and says so, causing him to not only relent but to readjust his self-perception. It has been rightfully said by fans that if Gertrud Kapelput was Oswald Cobblepot's mother, then Fish Mooney was the mother of the Penguin. Fish even takes credit for it. She tells him "you're mine", that he's "the terror of Gotham", that she sees him as the culmination of unwitting if brilliant decisions on her part as a mentor; the Penguin is their shared masterpiece. That name truly would not exist without her, because she was the one who gave him the disability that inspired it. She becomes emotional as she tells him how proud she felt to "bring [him] into being", and almost sheds tears when he wavers and looks down at the feet she maimed. None of this is fear for her life. She could have used her compulsion superpower to escape at any time. Oswald chooses to lower his gun. Because Fish gave him something he always wanted but could never have from his mother: love paired with the knowledge of who he was. He kept Gertrud in the dark. When she tearfully asked him if he ever harmed anyone, pleading that further lies would break her heart, the Penguin looked her in the eye and denied it. Putting a rift between them that hadn't mended before Gertrud was murdered. Fish's declaration of love set the Penguin free all over again. 3) 03x22, 'Heavydirtysoul'.
This is the first time that the music plays with a totally self-assured Penguin on screen, the first time that he is the one reading the other party to rights ("I know you, Ed. I may be driven by my emotions, but you are driven by something much more predictable..."), and the first time that he turns his threat to destroy into a fulfilled promise. "Destroy" in this case does not mean "kill." Kill would not be sufficient revenge for what the Riddler put Oswald through: unrequited love first, and a betrayal that almost killed him later. Both are galling. The final, ultimate stress test for the Penguin's survivability as a boss who draws strength from loving nobody and anticipating any betrayal - the very code that Ed recommended Oswald adhere to. But by now, Oswald has grieved his mother, whose body he cradled while crying. Penguin cried and cradled Fish Mooney's body in the exact same way when she died. Gotham's version of this character might be the first Penguin who was attracted to men, but he was certainly not the first Penguin to have his villainous transformation cemented via an attraction turned violent. In this scene, he has Ed frozen alive, telling him "I want you around as a constant reminder to never make that mistake again." The Riddler becomes an owned ornament in the Iceberg Lounge. His own belief in his ability to disorientate others with the "exacting fashion" of a well-planned puzzle has been flattened by the Penguin outwitting him. Most visceral of all, Oswald does not identify Ed as an active agent in his decision to never love anyone. The profundity of Ed's words about Gertrud in Season 2 is voided, because the Penguin implies (correctly) that his love for his mother never had that power. Oswald says Ed was the "only time I let love weaken me"; the Riddler prides himself on deliberateness, but the most influence he ever had on Penguin was accidental. In three acts, over three confrontations, Oswald's transformation became complete. Nygma truly did free Penguin's mind.
The beautiful irony of that last instance is that Oswald manages to convince Ed that he's been fully defeated, that he's less than nothing to Oswald and completely at his mercy (and the analysis above of how Oswald systematically crushes Ed's conception of his own power and brilliance is spot-on)... but I think we all know that the real reason Oswald has him frozen rather than killing him is that he's still in love with him and can't bear to kill him. This, predictably, opens him up to new vulnerabilities: the frozen centerpiece he had publicly advertised is stolen from him, and then Ed starts publicly mocking him in the Narrows, both of which weaken his reputation and credibility. He tells Ed he's keeping him around as a reminder to never let love weaken him again, and Ed believes him; but in fact, in the very act of keeping him around, he is already continuing to let love weaken him.
Late response but @philosopherking1887 you were unfathomably correct for this
Well it being black history month is reminding me how I wanted to doodle something like this down for a while. Since it’s been a lil detail I always take notice of in drawings. These are very simple depictions but I hope it’s enough to give the general idea! Feel free to reblog
[Image description taken from alt: Drawing Scars on Brown/Dark Skin. The left illustration is how cuts and burns looks on brown and darker skin. Top level is the common depiction of using light pink to color it. So no melanin? typically not how most scars look. Of course there’s the condition of raised scars or stretch marks which could look lighter! Next row is showing how they are when scabbing which is reddish and dark. Third row is an aged, finished scar. Burns are marbled in look. They're darker than the skin tone. Last row shows how a fully or nearly fully healed scar, it's lightly visible but still darker than skin tone. Right illustration is a torso with scars with a diagonal cut to show the difference between left and right side. Left has pink light scars, healing? Or just an oversight? Right has darker colored scars. Normal. Same applies to top surgery scars. For recent surgeries that alter the areola, it is pink as it heals (nipples are pigmented on dark skin btw so it’s a weird look) After full care and recovery they’ll look normal (dark). forever fascinated by the way tywin absolutely DESTROYED his own house all by himself. Forever fascinated with how he abused his children for years, transforming the pride of his house into the very tools of its destruction. It's not even just Tyrion that he obviously traumatized for life, he created monsters out of all of them,Jaime and Cersei included. Jaime is supposed to inherit but he has nothing of a lord. Cersei is most like Tywin but she is a woman and he has discarded her her whole life for it. He seems to hate her for being like him but born a woman. It's no wonder George makes Jaime a knight of the King's guard ; nobody could possibly come after Tywin's reign of terror. No one has the same cruelty and even though, he's traumatized his children, his HEIRS into holding onto him. He made himself into the house Lannister, nothing comes after him. He rebuild the house while planting the roots of its destruction at the same time.
… i don’t even know what to say im so tired of people being hostile to aromantics (and other aspec people) for absolutely no reason

what does any of those things have to do with being aromantic?
A 19-year-old black trans girl was shot to death this month, and there has been absolutely no media reporting on it - despite extensive reporting on almost identical incidents in the same part of Florida, at the same time. The police, as usual, misgendered her in the police report and have done nothing to find her killer. Her name was Jayla Mcgee. Black trans people deserve to grow old.
Police misgendered Jayla McGee, local media overlooked her homicide, and her community was left to make sure she was not erased.
The site notes that McGee was the 15th reported transgender person of color killed in the United States this year.
WE NEED TO GET LOUDER ABOUT KOSA
My dreams of becoming a writer and reaching fame through the internet could go to shit if the KOSA law passes. Sure, I am not from the USA nor the UK, but it will expand to my country (Bolivia) eventually
Also, there are people with dreams like mine, people whose lives and jobs rely on the internet, and they could go to shit too because the goverment wanted to pretend to be a babysitter
Not just that, our privacy is at risk. Not mine, not yours, OURS. This has been said and repeated multiple times, but they're not trying to protect the children. They're trying to spy on every single one of us. You could always quit using the internet and wait until the KOSA law is removed, but some people can't live without the internet, and you KNOW what this can lead to
I would trust a conspiracy theorist who has never taken a vaccine more than the people ruling over the UK right now. But there's still time
I wish I had a link to stuff that can lead you to stop the KOSA law from happening, but there will be other posts that can help with that
We can still fight for our freedom. We can still stop KOSA

Reform candidate fails to become Mayor in Manchester
Why is this not a headline on every front page? Why is this not the top story on every news channel?
Before Farage dragged ALL of his activists to Clacton to help him defend his seat, it was a near certainty that Reform was going to take the Mayorship that Burnham had vacated to run for Parliament.
And yet no one - not the papers, not Sky and (it is definitely worth noting) not the BBC - is commenting on the fact that Reform have lost another election.
Farage's vanity project, and his actions to try to secure his position in parliament, have cost his party their chance to gain one of the more important Mayorships in the country and to win a huge propaganda victory.
And not a single newspaper, not a single news station is reporting on this fact.
If their candidate had won - if they had taken this seat - you know the news would never have shut up about it. They would have talked about it until the by-election in Clacton.
So why are we not hearing that REFORM LOST! REFORM WERE HUMILIATED! FARAGE'S FINANCIAL DEALINGS COST THEM MAYORSHIP OF MANCHESTER!
Why are is entire press corps of The United Kingdom protecting Farage's reputation?
you can't say "hey has anyone noticed that M/M fic outnumbers F/F like 100:1” or “it feels racist that only 3/202 characters on the ao3 top 100 ships list are Black and two of them are Alastor HazbinHotel” bc some ppl will start going like “oh so you think we should FORCE people to write about things they DON’T CARE ABOUT for WOKE????” and you’ll be like “no, i’m pointing out that the conditions that created this disparity are informed by racism & misogyny” and ppl will say “it’s not BIGOTED to only care about WHITE MEN” and then the gargoyle king appears

The Wolf Among Us - The Jersey Devil
I've always loved the fight between Bigby, Woody and Jersey from this game, Jersey definitely became one of my favourite character introductions. Had to draw him.
