Seems appropriate to make a PSA for this blog now. I'm still here and really excited to continue to run and post to it after another long dry spell. I've been a fan since 2007 and I will be a fan until the final issue even if it's in 50 years.

That being said. I am BEGGING people to use the tag #ua comic when making posts about the comic so I don't have to suffer psychic damage scrolling through the main tag which I suspect has been and continues to be overtaken with netflix tv content. I love myself (and this series) too much to put myself through that. So please, as a comic loving community, let's get this baby back in gear.

one thing i really wanted to do with this blog, more for myself than anyone else, was build up a tag containing all the lovely comic fanart i used to see in the tags before the show came out, but since that was 2 years ago now and all tua stuff goes into the same tags most of it is so hard to find now, and i know there must be plenty i've never even seen. if anyone has any favorite fanart pieces for the comic, or you would like to share your own, please submit them to me (as long as you link to the op of a tumblr post because i won't repost from other sources.) i'll still be trying to find them myself as well and reblogging them here when i can :)

this blog is a place for struggling fans of gerard way and gabriel bá's 2007 comic series the umbrella academy to connect with each other and have our woes and criticisms of the current state of the franchise's impact on pop culture heard out. with the recent release of netflix's second season of the tv adaptation, there will be yet another boom in attention for the series, but those of us who have been with it a while recognize that the umbrella academy the world is now more familiar with is a very different creature than the one near and dear to our hearts. we're here to listen ☔︎

The Murder 🦇

(Hotel Oblivion spoilers!) Here’s my fanart for my favourite new Umbrella Academy character! We know very little about her, including not knowing her name or whether she turns into ravens or crows. She’s my favourite of the new Umbrella Academy. I made some minor design changes with her, though.

But here’s the name I pose: The Murder, because that’s the name for a group of crows. But if it’s ravens, then it should be The Conspiracy for the same reason. As for her actual name, I’m currently calling her Eleanor Nevermore. These are both references to Edgar Allen Poe’s works (the author of The Raven). It also just sounds cute together. So meet Eleanor!

I am way too in love with this character despite how little we’ve seen of them. I had a lot of fun drawing her and hope to see more of her in the future issues! Can’t wait for season two!

This character, which appears in the very end of the last issue (“Reunion”) of The Umbrella Academy’s third volume, Hotel Oblivion, is amoung a few of the other new super-siblings that are introduced. With the power to either summon or become a flock of ravens or crows, she is calm, collected and cool, like the rest of her powerful, coordinated team.

In an interview with Forbes, Gerard also mentioned that volume 4 of The Umbrella Acadmy will be titled: “Sparrow Academy”.

“[It] deals with a very big reveal in the Umbrella Academy universe, something that had been secret for a long time, and our siblings learn a lot about what was happening behind the scenes, as well as discovering the true nature of some characters that have been with them since the beginning,” Way teased. “The series finally starts to answer the question: ‘What about the other babies born on that day, in that moment?’ The Umbrella Academy siblings are not alone in the world anymore.”
