In an archived picture on Google maps, my wife's grandfather is still alive and capable of bringing the trash back from the curb; my own father's car sits beside the house where he died with the bedroom windows open for a breeze. In the back of our freezer, the last soup my mother made sits collecting frost, and hanging from the top handle of my filing cabinet my first dog's collar still jingles every time I open the drawer.

Like these and so many others, they still live on, a part of our lives, and I get to teleport back to when I could hug them if only for a brief moment.
