“There is no need for you to apologize! It is my fault for forgetting to introduce myself. My name is Kiyotaka Ishimaru!”
It was reassuring to see that the girl was smiling; it meant that he was doing his job correctly. Not only that, but there was something rewarding about seeing such a timid girl expressing herself in a cheerful manner. He could not explain exactly why, but he could not help but smile as well.
“Room 140? What a coincidence! That is my room as well. Which must mean that you are Mikan Tsumiki, correct?” There was a pause before he came to the full realization that this was his roommate standing before him. And just like that, his broad smile switched from content to nervous. He knew that the dorms were coed, but he had been hoping that there would still be a chance that he would be sharing a dorm with another male.
“W-which makes us roommates! I promise that I will not be invasive of your privacy. Or express any lewdness. That would not be befitting behavior of any diligent student!”
"Oh, are you alright Kiyotaka-kun...? You l-look pale..."
No sooner had he mentioned that he was your roommate, his features went from excited and happy to worried in less than a second. You hadn't gotten the experience to room with a member of the opposite sex before, but even so you didn't seem fazed by it. He seemed like an all-around kind and caring student. A friend.
Blinking slightly at his nervous demeanor, you grab his hand and softly pat it, reassuring him that it was okay. How strange it was for you to be comforting the nervous student, when it was usually the other way around.
"It's alright Kiyotaka-kun! I w-wouldn't mind...but...you don't need to be worried about it...I won't bother you or express any such behavior either! I-I'm sorry!"

“I’m sure everything will work out just fine for the both of us, Tsumiki-senpai,” Mahiru said soothingly. This girl probably had been through a rough past. That much was obvious from the way she spoke, the way she held herself: hesitantly, and more than a bit clumsily. Tsumiki wouldn’t even meet Mahiru’s gaze.
“Oh, and no need to say sorry.” The other girl hadn’t done anything wrong. “After all, if anyone’s going to be sorry, it should be me!” The photographer was almost sure that the other girl had more important things to do than helping out lost freshmen, but she had no choice. Nobody else was around, as far as she could see.
“I’m sorry for inconveniencing you even more, but… I was wondering if you could tell me how to get here?” She pointed to the piece of paper she was clutching in her hand: a map of the dormitory, with one room’s details bolded out. Dorm Room 330.
"N-No! You have nothing to be sorry for...my apologies once more,Mahiru-chan..."
You felt terrible for inconveniencing her, the fact that you could barely hold yourself together without making a fool of yourself. There went your plans to try to make a good impression on everyone.
You come out of your stupor as you see the girl clutching a map and showing it to you. She wanted assistance that you were more than happy to help her with, yet you lacked the motivation to be cheerful and pleasant about it. Even so, you didn't mind.
Taking it from her gently, your mind races as you try to remember the correct corridor and staircase which dorm 330 was located. After figuring it out, you smiled a tad bit towards her.
"Dorm 330 is l-located on the fifth floor! Just take the elevator and it should be three doors down either on your left or right!"

Fortunately, the girl did not turn down his offer to help. He would have felt a bit guilty, seeing how she was struggling on her own. He was definitely not one to turn down the opportunity to assist one of his classmates. Even though he was openly offering to help her, the girl was teary-eyed and nervous, something he could not quite understand. Perhaps a little bit of encouragement and reassurance would help dry her eyes and calm her nerves.
“Of course not! This is anything but trouble for me. It would be disgraceful for me to leave anyone behind.”
He truly mean those words. If it came to his attention that he had failed his duties on only the first day, he would surely be upset with himself.
He turned his attention back to the matter at hand. “I assume that you have received your dorm room number? I can assure you that I am familiar with most of the campus by now! Guiding you should be no problem!”
"Oh...w-well in that case, thank you very much of you to help me..." His response was a bit reassuring, and his tone did not change making him sound a bit more believable and trustworthy. Not many people wanted to help you out, so this was a bit of a first for you. However, you wanted to make a good impression on everyone now. You wanted to change.
Coming out of your daze as you hear his question, you try to perk up a bit to let him now you were attentive to what he was asking.
"Y-Yes! If you would be so kind as to help me find it, it is dorm number...140. Thank you very much...er...what d-did you say your name was? I'm sorry if I seem to zone out..." Keeping a smile up for as long as you have was a bit jaw dropping Since it was so rare that a smile actually made its way onto your features.

The photographer clears her throat and decides to introduce herself first before answering. Beating around the bush isn’t Mahiru’s favorite thing to do, but asking favors without even telling your name’s quite rude, you know.
“I’m Mahiru Koizumi, a first year,” she beams at the girl in front of her, sensing her distress. Barely-suppressed tears dot the girl’s eyes, choppy long hair framing her perturbed features.
I’m not that intimidating, am I?
Mahiru extends her hand for a shake. “That’s what you’re supposed to do after meeting new people”, her father had told her. She sincerely hoped that the other girl would accept it—she’d just arrived barely five minutes ago, and she already made someone cry? Oh, boy. She had to be setting a new world record or something.
Stretching your hand out with a slight nod, you fail to notice your hand is twitching, most likely from your nervousness. You lower your eyes, your gaze resting on your shoes as you speak. "M-Mikan...Mikan Tsumiki." You take her hand, shaking it for a few moments before dropping your own hand to your side. "I'm a...third year...but I just moved here,so..." You trail off, not wanting to go into details as much.
"S-sorry for being so nervous. I hope you have a nice time here...I hope I do t-too..." It was hard for you to be so confident about anything good happening in your life, but you hopes everything would be different from now on.

(( If you ever need anything at all, or maybe just want to chat, I am always available! If that ever does happen hahahah. Anyways! It is a pleasure to meet you all and I am looking forward to a fantastic time here! ))

As expected, Ishimaru had arrived earlier than other students and had already assessed himself in his dorm room. This allowed him the opportunity to assist his fellow students, which was a responsibility he gladly took up. Most students thus far were well off on their own, refusing any assistance he offered. Nonetheless, his energy did not falter, and he continued to approach anyone who was seemingly in need with the same high-energy he usually carried.
Out of the corner of his eye, Ishimaru noticed a girl who seemed to be struggling with with her belongings. She seemed to be observing a piece of paper, most likely a map of some sort or any other information regarding the school. Such things as wrangling luggage and consulting a map were some of the key factors indicating a student in need of help. Naturally, he strode toward her with confidence, ready to assist her if possible.
“Excuse me! Do you need any assistance with your bags? Or maybe you need help finding your dorm?” He spoke boldly, as if he had not even noticed the girl’s obvious timidness.
For not another moment, you were snapped back into reality, being caught off guard by someone, who you hoped was a student. You slowly turned your head, facing the male who spoke with a booming voice to you moments ago. His initial appearance startled you, because he looked so....perfect, and much like he wasn't having any issues with anything of the sort. You realize what a mess you are and pluck up the courage to answer his question, despite your hesitation.
"Well actually...i-it's a bit of both, you see....I hope I'm not causing you any trouble by y-you helping me..."
You felt awful that someone would offer to do it for you, but you felt so helpless most of the time that you couldn't really say no.

Mahiru looks around, occasionally turning to look at the simple brown roll along bag she’s dragging along and the camera slung across her shoulder, as if she thought they might disappear. Her eyes are flitting frantically from the doors to the paper on her left hand. It’s a map of the dormitories, and judging by the look on her face, she has no idea where she’s going. It’s obvious that she’s never been here before, and since the whole place is rather large, you can’t blame her for getting lost.
But there’s a determined look on her face, now, and she’s not going to give up. Walking along with firm steps, she catches a glimpse of a wide-open door—and another girl with a rather choppy hairstyle inside it. Mahiru lets out a breath that she didn’t know she was holding, and walks up to the girl.
But she didn’t want to impose herself on the first person who was unlucky enough to encounter her. I’ll ask her for directions a little later, maybe. Besides, I don’t mind waiting a bit.
“Excuse me…?”
You flinch and tears begin to start forming in your eyes, as you fear you've done something wrong already. You turn to face the source of the voice, coming to see a young girl about your age, a camera around her neck and a brown suitcase trailing behind her. She smiled at you, meaning that you haven't done anything wrong yet. Hopefully it stayed that way.
"U-Um...yes? Can I assist you in any way..?"
As usual your voice came out as shaky and squeaky, which was normal for you. It took courage to even stop stuttering long enough to speak to someone new.

"O-oh dear...." You stare at your suitcases, each a light pastel pink and covered in small, diabetes inducing bunnies. Why you packed so much, you hadn't a clue. No one seemed to be around to assist you at the moment, and you needed at least two more sets of hands.
That aside, you were a tad bit excited to meet some new people, but not while your personal belongings were not in the dorm. Reaching into your pocket, you pull out a letter with a list of all classes, dorm numbers and other information. According to the info the principal left you, your roommate would be one named Kiyotaka Ishimaru. Slipping the paper back into your pocket, you decide to watch for another student, or at least someone you could get along with.
