Hey so lots of my old hockey RPF fic is tainted with the fact that I was a Blackhawks fan from 2009-2015, and the general real life shittiness of other male athletes, but that doesn’t mean it’s a compliment to tell me you changed the names to make it Heated Rivalry fic.
Also the idea that I should take fic written about other players before those books were even written and replace the names so it can be reposted as HR fic is disrespectful to both me as one of the authors but also the readers?????
Fandom is so fucking weird these days.
so the thing is that one of the reasons all our ladd/kesler fic is still up even though ryan kesler is a piece of shit is because we wrote it at each other in a fit of shared derangement and had so much fucking fun doing so.
we posted it because it was so fucking long by the end it just seemed a waste to not. but that's not WHY we wrote it. honestly we got all the validation and feedback we needed from the writing process itself and from our 5 friends who were egging us on from allison's living room.
so it's definitely not a compliment to tell us that the paper dolls we were having fun with at the time "don't deserve" the story and that you changed the names to characters from a work that is now profiting off us and our friends sitting around having fun making up stories about men who turned out to be really shitty.
and it's not actually morally superior to take that story and replace it with characters you consider more pure or whatever.
also why would you tell one of the authors of the story that you did this.
also why would you assume we would thank you for the suggestion?
anyway, don't do this please.
