Exploring cinematic concepts for my potterbyblvnk sketches. With the help of you guys, I decided to call this series “potterframes”.

I want to show you in details, colors and atmosphere, how I imagine the story of Harry Potter beyond my sketches. My goal is to create believable “movie” scene. I know we already have the movies, but there’s a lot we can explore, especially after growing up.

I might have a lot of fun designing the dark side of the story this time, with a bit of light for a contrast, of course.

How to Make Your Characters Almost Cry

Tears are powerful, but do you know what's more impactful? The struggle to hold them back. This post is for all your hard-hearted stoic characters who'd never shed a tear before another, and aims to help you make them breakdown realistically.

The Physical Signs of Holding Back Tears

Heavy Eyelids, Heavy Heart Your character's eyelids feel weighted, as if the tears themselves are dragging them down. Their vision blurs—not quite enough to spill over, but enough to remind them of the dam threatening to break.

The Involuntary Sniffle They sniffle, not because their nose is running, but because their body is desperately trying to regulate itself, to suppress the wave of emotion threatening to take over.

Burning Eyes Their eyes sting from the effort of restraint, from the battle between pride and vulnerability. If they try too hard to hold back, the whites of their eyes start turning red, a telltale sign of the tears they've refused to let go.

The Trembling Lips Like a child struggling not to cry, their lips quiver. The shame of it fuels their determination to stay composed, leading them to clench their fists, grip their sleeves, or dig their nails into the nearest surface—anything to regain control.

The Fear of Blinking Closing their eyes means surrender. The second their lashes meet, the memories, the pain, the heartbreak will surge forward, and the tears will follow. So they force themselves to keep staring—at the floor, at a blank wall, at anything that won’t remind them of why they’re breaking.

The Coping Mechanisms: Pretending It’s Fine

A Steady Gaze & A Deep Breath To mask the turmoil, they focus on a neutral object, inhale slowly, and steel themselves. If they can get through this one breath, they can get through the next.

Turning Away to Swipe at Their Eyes When they do need to wipe their eyes, they do it quickly, casually, as if brushing off a speck of dust rather than wiping away the proof of their emotions.

Masking the Pain with a Different Emotion Anger, sarcasm, even laughter—any strong emotion can serve as a shield. A snappy response, a bitter chuckle, a sharp inhale—each is a carefully chosen defence against vulnerability.

Why This Matters

Letting your character fight their tears instead of immediately breaking down makes the scene hit harder. It shows their internal struggle, their resistance, and their need to stay composed even when they’re crumbling.

This is written based off of personal experience as someone who goes through this cycle a lot (emotional vulnerability who?) and some inspo from other books/articles

The Day Of The Scrambler

Hmm... Well, lately I just keep trying to find new lengthy fics to read (mostly I've been binge reading NH canon-rewrite stories, usually those that have more than 100K+ words/around 20+ chapters, apart from the fics I was already following) but I'm not sure if you'd be into those.

The Importance of Body Language

Describing a character’s body language can be very important and helps your story from being too “telly”. You end up showing your readers how your characters are feeling instead of constantly telling them what’s going on. For example, if someone’s face “burns bright red”, you know they’re either angry or embarrassed (or perhaps a combination of both). Depending on context, your readers can figure out how your character is reacting. Using these simple techniques can help improve your story and make it much more entertaining.

A character that is over confident (possibly the antagonist) will most likely stand taller, put hands on his or her hips, or bark orders at others. The way they sit will also reveal a lot about their character. Their legs will probably be unfolded and they might sit up straighter to show dominance.

Someone who is shy and closed off will slump his or her shoulders or wrap their arms around their legs if they are sitting. They will do anything to remain unnoticed, which will come across in their body language. Submissive people tend to smile a lot because they might not want to engage in conversation.

Anger can be described through clenched teeth, reddening skin, heavy breathing, or crossing arms. If a character feels physically threatened, he or she might ball her fists as if ready for a fight.

 When people lie they tend to touch their face or avoid eye contact. They will try any physical action that might distract people from the fact that they are lying and it will often be subtle.

I once read that when you’re attracted to someone or open to conversation with them, you’ll point your knees in their direction. Your knees will often face the person who you wish to talk to. If someone is not open to conversation or feels uncomfortable, they will turn their body away from the person to show they aren’t interested.

There are a lot of clues in everyday life as long as you pay attention to them. If you want to learn more about body language, all you have to do is analyze the people around you or even yourself. What do you do when you lie? How do people know when you’re happy? Take a look around and observe.

Some NaruHina Blank Period headcanons for a sunny day 🍥☀️

When Naruto saw Hinata freed from the Infinite Tsukuyomi, the only thought running through his mind was “thank the heavens she’s alive”. The battle with Madara and later Kaguya hadn’t made him forget how she called out to him for help. He just shoved the worry to a festering, frantic corner of his mind until the war was finished

Kiba, Shino, and Akamaru tackle-glomped Hinata in a huge bear hug, and Naruto wiped away tears of relief from his eyes. Then he went to join them

Sakura elbowed him and asked him how the role reversal felt, and he just stared at her blankly. She shook her head and rolled her eyes, muttering something about oblivious fools

Hinata’s Infinite Tsukuyomi receded, but Naruto’s bright flash of blonde hair and his beaming face made her blink for a moment. Just for a moment. She was sure she was still dreaming, because he wasn’t usually that close to her ever, except in dreams

While he was recovering from the loss of his arm, Hinata made sure to visit Naruto at the hospital every day. To everyone’s shock, he actually knew the names of all the flowers she would put at his bedside table

It was one of the best, most real conversations they had, that conversation about flowers

Once, he was struggling with holding his chopsticks with his non-dominant hand and she reached out to steady his grip like she could read his mind. He protested, saying she didn’t need to do that

But Hinata just gave him a look and said, “You don’t need to act so tough around me”, and it was then that he understood what Sakura said about role reversals

Because he knew he’d said that before at some point

Naruto and Hinata really did grow closer after spending many days in front of Neji’s grave. In Hinata’s mind, Pain’s invasion and the war were just proof that she would just have to work harder and harder at protecting Naruto

She didn’t know that Naruto had come to believe the same thing

They both loved to put sunflowers on his grave

Naruto once idly remarked that Himawari would be a really good name for a girl and the rest was history

He actually knew a lot more about Hinata than anyone could have expected, considering how oblivious he usually was. The way she smiled when she was happy, when she was hurting, when she was unsure of herself. It was all in her eyes

Hinata didn’t know that he noticed these things all along, and she thought he was more important to her than she was to him

She was wrong, of course, but it took her a trip to the moon and the imminent destruction of the world to understand that

Naruto was ridiculously jealous of her ramen champion record and tried unsuccessfully to defeat her so many times

Everyone shipped them like FedEx. Kakashi conspired to put them on so many missions together for the flimsiest reasons based off scenarios written in Icha Icha

Their friends all approved, if only to put all the Naruto and Hinata related drama behind them and move on

Seriously, it was vexing to be on Team 7 or Team 8 during this time period

Even Shikamaru found it troublesome when they just kept dancing around each other

Too bad they were both too oblivious and wouldn’t catch on for another two years
