So, I’m pretty sure I’m a pro shipper, but… the ships that are considered “taboo”, specially ones with children make really uncomfortable and I block it from my feed, and avoid interacting with that type of content.
I know “pro” means in support, and that the ships I’m mostly uncomfortable with fall under the “dark ship” umbrella, but I’m starting to feel like I’m a little bit of a hypocrite in some way… and it’s making me confused on where I stand, because I am 100% profiction.
being a proshipper does not mean "liking all the taboo things in the world". being a proship just means being against harassment and censorship. that's all.
(I've said this so many times, so apologize for repeating the same thing again.)
literally the only thing being a proshipper means is "I don't harass real people over fiction, even if I hate the (fictional) things other people enjoy. I condemn harassment and I am against censorship. what other people enjoy in fiction is not my business — because I can curate my own internet experience and mind my own business."
block / mute / filter out what upsets you. as long as you don't harass real people over fiction, what you like or hate is irrelevant.
honestly I think the whole "proship vs anti ship" thing is stupid. if you go and ask a stranger in real life "are you proship or anti ship", chances are they will look at you and go ?????? but by definition I am proship, because I don't agree with harassing real people over fiction, I know censorship is bad and a fascist tool, and I can separate fiction from reality. so by definition, I am proship.
