“You don’t think it’s weird to sleep so close to me?” Oikawa asks softly.

“Not if it’s you,” Iwaizumi gives a small shrug, blinking slowly as sleep pulls over his eyelids.

Oikawa can’t make a smart remark this time, because his heart is thudding in his chest at the speed of a hummingbird’s wing, and his fingers are itching against the pillow to reach out and touch Iwaizumi. He can’t. As much as he wants to burn Iwaizumi’s features into his muscle memory, he refuses to let his feelings intervene with the sanctity of their friendship.

Iwaizumi sees him as his best friend, not as a lover.

Oikawa quietly curses himself for letting his feelings be tainted, but one look at Iwaizumi’s sleeping face and he resigns to them with a small sigh.
