Of course, the more I watch the sacrifice scene, the angrier I get because even the way Jake spoke to Spider and led him off into the forest was like a dog owner gently coaxing his old, troubled pet off into the trees to be put down. That's how little Spider meant to him. By the end of the day, Spider was just a troublesome pet Jake tried and failed to abandon on the side of the road, and when that didn't work, he resorted to putting him down because he was just becoming too troublesome to take care of.
You know how Spider haters would make these things where Spider was Sully family dog? I never really paid attention to it until this scene. Because this is where it really seemed like he was never a person to Jake (Neytiri obviously too but she wasn't hiding it - he was always just an alien to her). Jake just takes Spider to that forest like he was a dog that was too hard to take care any more and you don't want to spend money on his treatment. It easier to just get rid of him and tell the kids he went to live in a farm upstate.
I know the film expects us to believe Jake loves Spider so much he rather endangers the world than harm him but that's not what it establishes. It never shows us Jake actually caring outside general taking care of a kid when it's not to inconvenient to his family. It never shows there is any parental care on Jake's side. And then it just but actually Jake loves him like a son.
No, he doesn't. He would never leave his kids behind like he did Spider. he would never take them to the woulds. He doesn't love Spider like that. At most this is the kind of love that gets you on the news about the father that shot his kids because life is too hard and he didn't want his wife to get custody. Jake would so lose at that King Solomon court to Quaritch.
It feels like being gaslit when Jake talks about love because we see at the same time Quaritch who, for all his other faults, actually loves Spider no matter his mission, his beliefs or even Spider's rejection. The kid tries to kill him and he still jumps after him. Spider isn't even allowed to be angry at Jake and Neytiri after murder attempt. The contrast makes that scene feel even more fake and creepy on rewatch.
And then there is the fact that Spider is just accepting that this is love. That he is grateful. That he has no complains. It makes it feel culty. Like he has been so convinced his whole life that he deserves all the shitty treatment for these adults because he has to atone for the original sin of being Quaritch's son that nothing they do is something he would fault them for. Fighting only gets you rejection and being send away but if you take it long enough they will let you sleep inside the house. Really, like an abused dog that keep trying to please for the scraps of attention.
You know what? I would have taken the Sacrifice scene so much more seriously if Spider hadn't forgiven them and begun to distrust them. Years of turning the other cheek and being the bigger person despite his VERY young age, almost getting murdered by his childhood hero, should have been the straw that broke the camel's back for Spider; it should have broken his mind and turned him into a paranoid cynic.
It would have been the perfect example of how some things just cannot be rebuilt from the ashes. What's broken is broken and can never be fixed. Unfortunately, we'll never get any scenes of Spider being legitimately angry because the moment he expresses any negative emotions, he'll automatically be labeled as a possible traitor or an evil gremlin determined to ruin everything.

The crux of the anti trans movement is a war on bodily autonomy. They don't want you to have any agency over what you look like, how you dress, who you date, whether to have kids, etc.
They want total control over you. Not just trans people. Not just queer people. You. Everyone.
Trans people are just a scapegoat. They want total control over everyone's self expression. They want the right to mold you into their perfect little cog in their dehumanizing machine.

As someone who loves Disney and enjoyed watching the Decendants movies throughout the years as they premiere, I gotta say really loved the new movie!
Spoilers for New Wicked Wonderland Movie along with Rambles and Thoughts:
-Loved all the music in this one. Each one had it's own feel and style and I feel like it was better than Rise of Red Soundtrack to me. (Though that's subjective because everyone has different tastes in music!)
Mad is my fav. It felt like a classic Disney Villain song with a modern/Decendants twist and Maddox's actor changing his voice and tone really pushed home how the man went insane. He was a fun campy villain and the actor seemed like he was having fun playing him. It was the song I was looking forward to the most and it did not disappoint to me. (The girls' cover of it was good too, but Maddox's version is my favorite)
-I really liked Hazel. While she didn't get as much time as some of the other cast members when she did get the spotlight girl stole it. Her rap/flex battle with Luis was fun to watch. Probably my second fav song out of the tracks.
- Luis and Red were sweet but I feel like their plot was a little rushed. Their song was nice and their voices blended really well together and it did help me like the pairing more. That said though... So much in Red's life is changing and they really prioritized the romance between her and Luis over other things, which kind of made other parts of the movie not get as much attention.
-I liked Pink. I appreciate the fact that they had her be a sweet and nice character but not be an airhead. I've seen people point out they don't get why she got mad seemingly out of nowhere, but after watching it again I noticed something. Every time Red ever acknowledges her its essentially taking jabs at her or putting her down.
"Okay she's ridiculous"
"To be fair the record is still trying to figure out if me and Pink are related"
"It's sweet like Pink so you know, take it with moderation"
"Yeah what would you know about it?"
She didn't hear what Red told Max, but she was within earshot for all those other comments. Given Pink and her in this time line are hinted to be close that has to hurt. I don't blame the poor girl for calling her out saying it feels like she literally doesn't care about her.
The moment Red finds the treasure box and we see her memories blend with this timelines was sweet. That moment along with Brigette having her villain moment towards Maddox near the end seems to hint the timelines and memories are merging.
Oh and her friendship with the Smee twins was adorable to me. Very cute and wholesome. The twins didn't get much time but they did make me laugh from their antics. They're just sillies.
-Felix and Robbie trauma bonding over constantly being thrown into the chaos of wonderland🤣. Poor boys... Felix's "My dude! 😱" as Robbie got flung off the chess board was hilarious. Wish they got more time to shine, especially Felix. His card powers were really cool to see. Oh and him giving Pink a new teacup for one she lost was super sweet to me.
-Chloe... I'm going to be honest Chloe's turn to evil felt pretty sudden. I also understand where she was coming from to an extent.
It feels like Red's hinted to be Chloe's first real friend and they're in a new timeline where everything's so different so she's clinging onto the one thing that feels normal. Even if it was a bond that only just started.
And then of course the plant incident. Using her as live bait was messed up and while I get Red's excuse it's the fact she downplayed doing it the action and Chloe feelings of hurt over it that really pushed Chloe to storm off.
That said Red had a point to where she's focusing on saving her mom and her getting frustrated with Chloe not focusing on that is understandable. It's just the fact that Red really just downplayed how she was treating everyone that made her come out like the bad guy.
-Max, oh boy this poor guy. If anyone had the most valid crash out it was him. Learning that Red basically stole his life, unintentionally or not, was painful to watch. It's even more heartbreaking when the thing that shatters Max is seeing and hearing his father in the alternate time line say he loves him. It makes you wonder if he never heard it the one they're in now and it just... breaks my heart.
Dude became Varian in that moment, I can already see the crossovers happening.
He had a great singing voice and his and Chloe's duet sounded great.
(I still can't believe it took us so long to get a villain pairing acting as antagonists in a disney movie but hey at least we got one. Even if it only lasted for a about... five or seven minutes.)
Not sure how I feel about them being paired up because they had even less time than Red and Luis. Plus the whole... enchanting Chloe for revenge thing. Gives the same kind of vibe when Mal enchanted Ben.
-speaking of Max... dang I am not a fan of how him and his dad essentially got the short end of the stick in the end. Red wasn't even willing to try and yes time travel trouble and all that but still... She was willing to do that for her mom and even Chloe's mom but not for her best friend and his son. Maddox who literally got sent to the Isle and went insane (and let's be real became evil thanks to being around a lot of the villains who didn't want to change their ways). Max who was treated horribly by others because of his relation to his dad, had a father who went mad and from what we see cared more about a watch than his own son's life or safety. All this was thanks to Red and Chloe and they're basically told "Nope, sorry can't mess with time anymore." and toss the watch away.
Even the promise she gave Max just stings. The only thing that eases it is the hint that the timelines are merging so hopefully that means Max can get a loving father again.
- Chessy looks like is going to use Pink as an antagonist next movie. Probably regarding Red and their mom's... honestly blatant favoritism for her older daughter.
(Notice how Pink didn't even run to her mom when they reunited. She ran to the gang and hugged them. Or the fact that Bridgette and Ella's song calling out to their daughters Bridgette only focused on Red. Heck she only said Red's name when she was about to pass out. The only time she even acknowledges she has two is when she's fuming at Maddox near the end...)
Could just be jumping to conclusions though.
-I loved seeing wonderland, they really said "Budget!" when they put this together. Even the camera work was more professional. (And as someone who loves Pokémon Sword and Shield that mushroom forest was giving serious Glimwood Tangle/Ballonea vibes.)
Overall I feel like it was miles better in writing than Rise of Red. To be fair to ROR they went through multiple rewrites and unfortunately it shows. They made best with what they had in that one, but they really nailed it with this sequel to me.
The little easter eggs throughout were a blast to see, whether it be from other disney movies or the classic animated Alice in Wonderland movie. (I also noticed during the scene where Red and Chloe are speaking to Cinderella and Fairy Godmother you can see Carlos' picture past Fairy Godmother's shoulder. It'd incredibly sweet to see they're honoring and having him live on in the movies.)
Plot was definitely hectic and a little rushed, but I forgive it because... well have you seen the original Alice in Wonderland animated move Disney made? Wonderland is hectic and crazy and weird and the plot being hectic feels like it works well for it.

what if neytiri an jake start to believe that spider isn't norm's nephew?
Whoo, boy. That would be chaotic.
If Neytiri slowly started to believe the truth about Spider's origins, even a little, it would already be too late to do anything about it. When the truth finally comes to light, Neytiri is shaking with rage. She corners Norm before she can stop herself, demanding an explanation. Her voice is thunderous with fury, but beneath it lies something far deeper.
Betrayal.
She has been deceived by humans before. She has buried the people she loved because of human lies. She has watched promises become ash and trust become another weapon turned against her.
And now this.
This entire time, Spider, the son of a monster, had eaten beneath her roof. He had laughed with her children. He had grown into adulthood in her village. He had earned the respect of her people, all while carrying the blood of the man who had murdered her father, hunted her family, and nearly destroyed everything she loved. Neytiri became unbalanced because of Quaritch, lost sleep, and nearly lost her sanity and peace of mind.
Norm, her mate's best friend, knew.
He had not given her the dignity of choosing how to respond.
When she turns to Jake and asks if he knew, the silence on his face is answer enough.
"I… had my suspicions," he admits quietly. "I never had proof."
Neytiri's ears flatten.
"You suspected…"
"I did."
"And still, you said nothing?"
Jake lowers his eyes.
"It wasn't my place, Neytiri."
"'Not your place?'" she repeats, her voice rising. "You say it was not your place, and yet you refused to share your thoughts with me!"
"Neytiri, you were carrying Neteyam; we were starting a family. I had an entire clan looking to me for leadership. We had to rebuild. Spider's parentage was a human matter, and I didn't think it was our concern."
"You are making excuses!"
Her voice echoes through the lab; a sob is building in her throat.
"All you humans do is lie!"
"Neytiri, please--"
"No!"
Years of grief and rage erupt all at once. "You lied to me! Norm lied to me! Max lied to me! You all decided I could not be trusted with the truth!"
Jake reaches for her, but she steps back, shaking her head.
"You made that choice for me."
There is nothing Jake can say, and the worst part is that there is nothing she can do.
Spider is nineteen years old. He is no longer a child under her authority. He is a grown man with a spotless reputation and the love of many.
Eywa herself has accepted him, blessing him with a kuru and allowing him to breathe Pandora's air without a mask. He has fought beside the People. He has bled for them. He has killed RDA soldiers defending their home. His loyalty has been proven over and over again until even the most skeptical warriors stopped questioning where he belonged.
He belongs.
Whether she likes it or not.
As if that weren't enough, Spider is mated to a Na'vi, and they have children, a gaggle of orphans displaced by the RDA, children who run around her village laughing and playing with Lo'ak's children.
If Neytiri exposed the truth now, the consequences would be catastrophic for everyone. The Omatikaya would be accused of knowingly accepting Quaritch's bloodline into their clan. Other clans would question Jake's judgment. His enemies would whisper that Toruk Makto had hidden the son of his greatest foe beneath everyone's noses.
Jake's reputation would fracture. Their clan's honor would be stained.
Spider's mate and children would suffer for sins they never committed.
The truth would not bring justice. It would only spread misery and sow discontent after she and Jake had worked so hard to unite everyone against the RDA. That realization infuriates Neytiri almost as much as the deception itself because the choice has been stolen from her.
Neytiri cannot reject Spider without destroying innocent lives. She cannot expose him without condemning people who have done nothing wrong. She can't even hate him properly because she Sees him.
Spider is not just Miles Quaritch's son. He is… Spider.
The awkward human boy who always tried too hard, who respected the ways of the Na'vi, who upheld the balance, who threw himself into danger for her children more times than she can count. His loyalty could not be doubted or questioned because he even took a bullet for her eldest son, snatching Neteyam from the jaws of death before they could even close around him.
That, somehow, makes everything worse. Neytiri had been forced to See Spider unknowingly against her will. All because Norm lied.
She eventually forgives Jake.
Not because she agrees with what he did, but because she understands why he remained silent. He chose what he believed would protect their family. Besides, Neytiri cannot truly bring herself to hate her mate... She's just deeply disappointed and hurt. Unfortunately for Norm, he receives no such forgiveness. As far as Neytiri is concerned, he looked her in the eye for years and lied. He denied her the truth, denied her agency, and denied her the chance to make her own decision. She may never forgive him for that. Maybe someday she will, but not today.
Spider, meanwhile, remains blissfully unaware. Neytiri treats him with cautious sadness, a sort of lingering hesitation. She watches him longer than she used to, as though searching his face for someone else and silently thanking Eywa each time she fails to find HIM in Spider's sweet smile. It doesn't quite erase the sting that she'd been cheated out of whatever she might have felt for him if she'd been told sooner...
