She was gone. Whether she was truly gone, Charlie could not tell. But seeing as she had quite literally vanished, there was good reason to believe she would not be returning.
Winona. Dear Winona. Could I ever have apologized? Would she have ever forgiven me? ... Would it have changed anything?
All questions she would now never have an answer to. Their last spoken words to each other had been in argument, now forever a reminder of how she had treated her once dear friend.
She stood outside the house in the village, hands folded respectfully in front of her, her normally extravagant outfit having been replaced with something simpler and predominantly black. It was quiet out, an odd occurrence for a pig village. Before she left, she passed through the garden, looking over the produce and flowers and removing any dead plants or weeds by hand. It would be a shame to let something so beautiful become overgrown.
Once she had finished, she returned to the front, giving the house one long, final gaze. Bowing her head in a small prayer, she wished Winona and Twila safe travels, wherever they may have gone.
