Sakura Market Bag on Ravelry with 24/7 cotton
Look at this giant aloe and her pups
I’m new to weaving, this is my second project. I pulled the yarn out of my stash... all that I had left of the three colors, and another grey that went with it. All cotton. Hopefully it turns out better than my first try.
Day two of my job as a hustler. Basically I quit my day job with enough funds to sustain myself for a couple months, with no particular plan in mind.
For starters, I see so many things that I could be doing. Thus my top priority is making money to buy myself more time. Time to declutter. Time to plan budget meals. Time to use the things I have instead of buying new things to make me happy. Time to minimalize. Time to gather myself. Time to catch up.
And another thing- time to write. I’ve ordered back up ink for my inkjoy pens, and I have more than enough notebooks to last me through school.
I’ve got that Hamilton song in my head- “why do you write like you’re running out of time”
Let’s go.
What a fun Halloween! The girlfriend and I carved pumpkins, and baked Halloween cookies! They turned out crappy but whatever we had fun anyway.
I’m also working on a spinning project. We have been binge watching Once Upon a Time, and rumple stirred up a little spinning motivation for me.
So I am averaging one per season, and I’m nearly full on my third bobbin. Why did I buy pounds of this grey Shetland roving?
Here we go, practicing the basics of wood burning.
I have recently purchased a new tool, which is the next level up from the tool I had before. My first two tools only lasted a week or two, so I decided to get a slightly nicer one this time. I’m now using the Walnut Hollow VersaTool.
This one comes with a new tip, a tiny flow point. I can make much smaller shapes now, and with that comes lettering.
I’m also getting in the holiday mood, with the help of some Christmas stamps.
I’ve got to work on managing my blood sugar, to help steady my hands.
Practice makes perfect!
It’s crazy how much things have changed. It’s like trying to keep your balance in an earthquake.
you know what’s always bothered me? how people talk about their babies having “random weird fussy days” and they get mad about it right but the thing about that is...
babies don’t steadily grow, they grow in spurts, which means on a growth day they’re in quite a lot of pain ... but no one takes it seriously because a baby can’t communicate that they’re growing over a centimeter over night and that HURTS
like, massage your fussy baby ... theyre having a hard time ... theyre growing obscene amounts in a short period of time and need love and care ...
people will be like “my baby crawled yesterday but now theyre all fussy and acting like they cant crawl.”
ok i dont see you trying to run a marathon every day during a growth spurt when you did it yesterday ... fuckin chill. that baby is hurting.
everything about a babys growth is painful but no one talks about it??? why?! respect your baby and understand what amazing feats theyre accomplishing every day. geez. !!!!
doctors literally have to tell people “no you cant spoil your infant by holding them too much and helping them feel better when they cry” and tbh that alone is disgusting that people have so little regard for their babies they think providing adequate care to them is the same as “spoiling” them and will use their periods of growth and pain as examples of a spoiled baby. 😡
like did yall know youre not even supposed to wait for a newborn to cry before feeding them?? youre supposed to feed them before they cry because crying is actually hard on their stomachs and makes things worse!!! but people would apparently rather be annoyed at their child before feeding them????
There’s been multiple studies that show how children who were held a lot, talked to, dotted on, and had their feelings taken seriously as small babies/children have healthier brains than those who were treated like you said or worse.
Neglected kids have less function in their temporal lobes and are more likely to suffer from mental illness whether they cognitively remember the events or not. Another thing that has been known for decades now.
It starts at birth. Children MUST be cared for. Leaving them to sob hysterically or punishing them in any way for being in pain can end up dooming them to a sad life. This culture of letting your kid cry and even getting mad at them for it is exactly why the older generations typically has such a problem with emphasizing with others.
Love your kids.
If anyone is interested in such studies, you are looking for Mary Ainsworth. She took the basics of Bowlbys attachment theory and did the research, and came out of it identifying three attachment styles of children. Her studies were repeated across many times and populations and found to be widely applicable
