why are you always bitching about cis women having boundaries and not cis men who are the ones who are statistically far more likely to murder you? god forbid women don't spend all their emotional labor on centering you 24/7. go after the transphobic politicians or something, those are the actual fascists who want you dead.
those "boundaries" get us murdered lol. trans women who can't access women's shelters or other forms of housing because of cis women's "boundaries" are left on the streets to be assaulted and murdered
if you want trans women out of women's spaces, and the rationale for those spaces existing is to protect from violence, then you are saying that trans women don't deserve protection from the same violence despite being at an even higher risk of it than you
terfs have gotten crazy good at framing discrimination through the language of consent. systemic discrimination is not "boundaries"
the emotional labor of being asked not to discriminate against one of the most vulnerable groups of women

This one hurt, her work had such a profound effect on my life, thoughts, and politics.
May her memory be a blessing

genie: as thanks for freeing me i will grant you three wishes
me: awesome. firstly i wish that paul newman and robert redford had been in a hundred movies together throughout their careers beyond butch and sundance and the sting of varying plots, qualities and dynamics. secondly i wish that paul newman had been in some sort of horror b movie that’s sort of a halloween cult classic and was critically panned at the time but is now considered pretty good and influential for the time and recently got a criterion remaster and release, often chosen by actors in the criterion closet as one of their favourite movies. thirdly i wish paul newman had made that gay movie he wanted to make where he starred as a track coach who fell in love with the athlete he was training or whatever it was that got killed by the studio.
genie: you know you can wish for things not pertaining to paul newman. have another wish to try it out
me: i wish doc hudson from cars was real
You know me. I'm the same as you. It's two in the morning and I don't know nobody.

do you think the catholic church effectively utilized wokeness by funneling money into the colonization and rape of the americas after issuing the doctrine of discovery which effectively legalized the subjugation of indigenous peoples?
while looking for that other book i also found this google doc titled race and ethnicity in classics pedagogy: a starter pack. it showed up in my firefox suggestions so i must have visited or saved it a while ago but i only vaguely remember it. but it has links to a bunch of resources on the topic (some of which i've posted/reblogged here before). obviously aimed at educators but it's mostly articles that would be useful to anyone.
“Scholarship, far from leading inexorably to a profession, may in fact preclude it. For it does not permit you to abandon it.”
— Walter Benjamin, “The Life of Students”, Walter Benjamin: Selected Writings
This is the most comprehensive and impressive resource I've ever watched on transphobia. I think this is an especially important video for cis people to watch. The video is accessible and meant to be an educational tool for people who are confused by what the hell is going on right now. Every possible question you could have on trans issues is addressed in this video.
This pride month, if you want to help combat transphobia from your coworkers, friends, family, and so on, this is a very good educational resource to help you understand every aspect of transphobic rhetoric, policies, legislation, history - everything. It was made by a cis guy who drove himself crazy trying to figure out why everyone hates trans people, to the point that he dropped out of university to make this video. Given the global state of increasing anti-trans violence, I really strongly urge cis people to watch this video in full. It is an incredibly valuable resource and I cannot recommend watching it strongly enough.
Life for trans people is only becoming more horrifying, and I genuinely appreciate and respect every cis person who takes the time to watch this video, educate themselves, and understand the many fights ahead.
its crazy how many people but more specifically mostly men out there are so solipsistic that they can't imagine that beauty actually is subjective. like they just assume that features they find appealing are by default just innately more beautiful on an objective quantifiable metric.
