Running Scared (2006) is one of those movies that I can best describe as it feels like its the American adaptation of a cult classic seinen manga you've never heard of that gets like 70% of it right and like 25% of the movie is some sick ass shit but then the rest is like... poorly edited but still interesting enough you never stop enjoying it outright.

All in all, it was pretty good.

Hunter x Hunter may be written by a straight man who is a total wife guy but Togashi knows ball. Comes back from hiatus and basically just goes "yeah, this grumpy military man actually is just boymoding for work and much prefers getting to femme it up." Her coworkers think its just a stealth assassin thing but she keeps reminding them that the boymode is the fake persona. Unfathomably real Togashi, thank you

Btw if nobody else is going to claim her I am: Melody from HxH is trans rep in my heart.

She's an extremely sweet and well meaning girl who thanks to balding is often misgendered but is used to it and politely corrects people where she can. She's hyper focused on making music to a point of essentially clicking the world's shadiest torrent for some cool samples and getting cursed for life. She's nurturing yet in turn is so preconditioned to not be cared for she takes any kindness to her without a clear motive behind it as a red flag and writes herself off as impossible to be the object of someone's attraction even when someone says it right to her face that they love her. When you get her talking about a topic she's passionate about she can go on forever, but that's only if you get past her social walls because she's trained herself to read people for any sign of mistrust or mistreatment.

So, uh, yeah. Melody is a trans girl. It's basically canon in my head. Togashi just simply gets it. I cannot be swayed.

I'm like 90% sure its a purposely misspoken reference to "My Sharona" by The Knack. Or "My Balogna" by Weird Al, if you prefer. He refers to it as "My Jarona" too much for me to imagine it as anything else
