@undercutsquad
a quick grass tutorial
Iâve never really wrote a tutorial before so apologies if this is bad
1. okay first thing I do is pick three colors, a mid, dark, and light. I like to check the colors in greyscale to make sure thereâs enough contrast between each one.
I then plop down a blob of whatever my middle tone color is.
2. next, I take my dark color and just sort of randomly place it around. I try to make sure thereâs a good amount of both the mid and dark tones spread throughout. I personally like to keep it kinda messy. I also have pen pressure on for both brush size and opacity, so I can have some blending action going on.
3. for the next step I do the exact same thing as before, except with the light color.
4. aight this is where we start adding details. see how you just have a bunch of colors and edges where two colors meet? use the eyedropper and go to an area where two colors meet, eyedrop a color, and then use that color to draw in your grass blades. I do this at every point where colors meet. should note I personally like to use a square brush, but you can really just use anything.
5. you can technically stop at the last step if youâre going for a more simple look, but to add more details I go to the âemptyâ areas of solid color and just draw in random strokes using a color nearby. itâs just a way to fill up the empty space.
6. basically more of the same idea of eyedropping and drawing. for more variety so things look interesting, I like to add random plant shapes.
7. and so the grass doesnât look too plain, I add random dots of color and pretend itâs flowers and stuff.
and there you have it, this is how I approach drawing grass.

Things that work to calm your dog when theyâre barking in public:
Removing them from the scenario
Rewarding for quiet behaviour
Staying calm and quiet, using positive language
Things that donât work:
Yelling âNO!â
Yanking them/hitting them/otherwise stressing them further.
If someone slapped me every time I shrieked at a spider, that spiderâs going to become 10x scarier to me. If someone gave me a $50 note for being calm around the spider, Iâm probably going to chill out.
Ominous positivity
You will be okay. You have no choice.
god I hate when straights do that dumb shit of correcting gay pplâs pronoun usage. U know how many times Iâve said âmy exâ in convo and followed up with âsheâ and they go ââŠhe?â like donât be a smartass u heard me. I was just talking to a lady about babies and mentioned the babies in my friendâs wedding and very intentionally said âmy friend and her wifeâ, and the lady used âheâ and âgroomâ for the rest of the convo. they really think we donât notice that shit

I was working with a seagull and I said âas someone in Wildlife I know I should never anthropomorphize animals or hold them to any human moral standard, but seagulls are capable of and regularly knowingly commit evilâ and the vet tech with me said âno yeah thatâs true.â
i would lay down my life for her
âWe often hear from people that theyâre nervous to speak up about their depression, suicidal thoughts, addiction, anxiety or self-injury because they fear it will hurt their relationships or make them appear weak and damaged. Our hope is that by sharing your own story, you will inspire others to share theirs. Our hope is that you can be a safe space to listen, encourage, and accept people as they are.â

Native cultures are not interchangeable.
Every single Native culture is distinct and unique, though many share similarities, and lumping them together is ridiculous. And while some practices are pan-Indian, the vast majority are not.
Kokopelli isnât âNative American,â Heâs Hopi.
Dreamcatchers arenât âNative American,â theyâre Ojibwe.
War bonnets arenât âNative American,â theyâre Plains Indian.
Wendigoag arenât âNative American,â theyâre Algonquian.
Totem poles arenât âNative American,â theyâre Northwest Coastal Indian.
Skinwalkers arenât âNative American,â theyâre Navajo.
Stop homogenizing our cultures. Every Native culture is beautiful and unique and deserves to be treated that way.
Donât fall into the trope of âpan Indianâ. Fucking teepees and totem poles never existed together. Totem poles are permanent structures, teepees are fucking tents for nomadic peoples. First Nations and indigenous cultures are all deep and uniquely complex, it would be like confusing England with Russia.

âIâll rememberâ is the ADHD demon talking. You wonât remember. Write it down.
bold of you to assume iâll remember where i wrote it, or even that i wrote it
Visual exhaustion is another symptom of ADHD, which means that if we see something enough times (or we see enough instances of something), it fades into background noise and we fail to notice it. This is why a lot of ADHD people can stand living surrounded by mess/clutter, because itâs just visual background noise to us. We donât even notice it anymore. So if we write something down and see the note stuck up somewhere a lot â or if we write a LOT of somethings down and have a lot of notes hanging around â then weâre even less likely to think of/remember the thing because itâs just part of the scenery now. ADHD is the Catch-22 of brains.
A very good thing to know about ADHD. Donât fall into the trap.
A lot of folks in the comments are talking about writing on themselves or setting phone/calendar reminders. Your mileage may vary on those. You may also want to consider ways to set a habit of referring back to a planner or similar every day/hour.
To get those brain juices flowing, check out this Buzzfeed article on different ways folks with ADHD stay on top of things.
Readers, let us know if you have specific advice for this situation!
This is why sticky note reminders donât work??
