Racing Heart wheels were everywhere in the early 2000's. I remember going to Nopi Nationals in 05 & 06 and good portion of cars had them. What i like about them is they have a Spocom look but can be used for actual racing.
Option 2 2001-2003
Suspension tuning is key when it comes to car control. There are baseline settings that work well for getting started, but personal feel and preference ultimately make the difference. Some drivers prefer a softer setup, while others like something much stiffer.
If I were to build a Z33 for touge or track use, it would be exactly like this Amuse Fairlady. I love how it uses carbon fiber parts yet still keeps the OEM door panels and A/C. Even with the aero kit, it maintains an OEM plus appearance. And the exhaust sound is incredible. The R1 is unmatched.

I’ve always found aero kits fascinating. Much like wheels, they can completely transform the presence of a car. Some are created purely with aesthetics in mind, while others are refined through wind tunnel development. Here are a few scans highlighting some of the most popular brands from the early 2000s, when the aero boom was at its peak.

Sunday Cups were a great way to test both your car and your driving against others on the circuit. Back in the day, there were a variety of series you could enter, like the Option 2 Cup or the C-West Challenge Cup. It was especially interesting to see some of Japan’s top tuners go head to head in a true competition setting.

Apexi is one of my all time favorite tuning companies. I’ve run their parts on every car I’ve owned. One of the founders, Kimoto Yoshihiro, began his career as an engineer at HKS, where he spent nearly a decade before deciding to carve out his own path.
Apexi has produced everything from coilovers and stroker kits to exhausts, active aero, and their now legendary engine management systems. The fact that they’re still operating today, both in Japan and the USA makes me genuinely happy. I’m sure the US sales team got tired of hearing me praise them on phone calls and emails 🤣

In a world full of drift builds, it’s refreshing to see an S15 set up for circuit use. Built by Masuda-san of RWB, this car was designed to be taken to the track while still passing road inspection. As mentioned in the article, the exterior was handled by Naki-san. What I love most is the mix-and-match aero: a Vertex front bumper, Ings front fenders and side skirts, M-Sports rear fenders and bumper, all tied together with a Border carbon hood.

Kakimoto has always made some of the best looking exhausts, in my opinion. The craftsmanship and overall quality have consistently been top-notch. They have also been seen in various racing series in 🇯🇵 such as Super Taikyu. Enjoy some scans from the legendary manufacturer.
