so like apparently. bluesky is doing more or less the exact same shit as every other site, when it comes to nsfw. It's really unfortunate bc they drew in many people by being an actually functional and safe place for people to post nsfw and for other users to not have to see it bc of content labels. Now you can just arbitrarily decide that the porn someone drew looks "nonconsentual" and get their shit taken down. This will benefit precisely 0 people. fictional characters can't "consent" or "not consent" bc they're fucking fictional. But people can and HAVE had their whole accounts sniped for drawing porn that could be interpreted as being of a nonconsentual situation. This will likely result in people avoiding using the content warning system to avoid getting sniped. This will benefit precisely 0 people.

Because that would then force them to acknowledge that they don't actually care about mainstream media and simply find it easier to target and harass individual people with moral flag waving and threats over massive corporations who would either outright ignore them or smash them with the legal hammer.

What's easier; hounding a teenager online with death threats because they write incest fanfic or forcing international censorship of Game of Thrones and prosecuting George R. R. Martin as an incestuous murdering rapist who creates child pornography?

What's easier; needing no argument other than; "I think its gross and immoral" as defence for your virtue signalling or needing very extensive knowledge of the law, sociology and psychology in order to accurately formulate and prove that creating and/or consuming content relative to specific subjects is more harmful than beneficial and has direct action consequences?

And thus, the answer. Option A is indefinitely easier and more manageable, and more outcome-effective. Antis then real like they're "empowering real change" because if they successfully bully someone off of a platform, they were Right All Along and their activism is Working.

(Whereas if they went after Universal Studios, for example, they would probably be sued into oblivion and laughed at for generations to come. Not very empowering or uplifting.)

I hate the argument of "it would be illegal irl tho!!" Not just cause, that obviously doesn't make it illegal in fiction, and so it half the stuff in fiction.

But because it's so infuriating how many people see "illegal" and "morally bad" as the same thing. And never unpack why those things are bad.

CSEM and real life child abuse is bad. Not just cause it's illegal, but because it hurts a child. In some countries, there's less or no protections put in place legally to protect kids. That doesn't mean it's okay.

Being lgbtq, most people in these conversations can agree, is completely fine and doesn't hurt anyone. Yet it is still illegal in many places. Does that mean actually it's morally bad? NO.

And when you start thinking "oh this thing is icky, must be illegal", you're letting yourself completely ignore the actual damage things do or placing the blame in the wrong place.

Furthermore, I had someone turn to me and say that since I like adult x minor, I'd probably have "cp" if it was legal. And no I wouldn't, not just cause I'm simply not attracted to children, but because regardless of what the law says, I'd still think it was morally wrong, harmful and disgusting to own or support in any manner.

I don't like adult x minor just cause its the legal option. I like adult x minor ships and ALSO understand that it is not morally bad and doesn't do harm. That is why it's okay, not just cause it happens to be legal to ship it. Because I do not base my morality solely off the law, but my own understanding of the world and what causes harm.
