I found out about youth-lib through the radqueer community, and because of that my non radqueer headmates also learned about youth-lib.

That being said, I find it weird how some non radqueers and anti-radqueers shy away from using the youth-lib tags because they associate it with the radqueer community.

I do think this is because they associate youth liberation with radqueer specific statements like "abolish the age of consent" and do not want to associate with those stances. Which yes, I can see why there would be some hesitancy there. The AOC is a loaded topic, and is definitely not a "baby's first youth-lib" discussion.

My point is, I really wish anti's would get over this preconceived notion they have about what youth liberation is. Anyone advocating for youth libration is progress, radqueer or not.

(Not radqueer, but I believe in many of their beliefs) The intersection of youthlib and radqueer to me isn't about age of consent, it's that when transphobes say "You want to let minors trans their gender?? If a kid says he's Mickey Mouse, should we let him decide that too??" is not "Of course not, that's different; transgenderness is a Recognized Psychological Condition of The Brain"; it's "Sure, why not? Let the kid be Mickey Mouse."

I mean, yes , a child who identifies as a gender (their AGAB or otherwise) is much more likely to retain that identification long-term/into adulthood than a child who identifies as a character or animal is, but that's irrelevant. Let kids explore their identity and express themselves.
