⊹ ࣪ ˖ Much of my content has been projected upon, trauma and mental illness affect each element of my existence and that is reflective in my work. I properly tag triggering content if posted, but that content is primarily located on my Ao3 and Toyhouse accounts, this blog likely won’t feature any explicit or upsetting content aside from discourse and fluff. If regular people with depression can soothe themselves with sad songs, graphic vent art, and other depressing media, I find it justifiable to consume the content that aids you (even if that aid is to trigger yourself until it no longer frightens you) as a victim of any traumatic event. ⊹ ࣪ ˖

On making secret accounts

I've been thinking about this idea of making separate blogs for "problematic" and "non-problematic" stuff

I used to think this would be a good idea, that this way nobody would find my controversial stuff and I would be able to interact with mainblr or maintwt.

But as time went on... I've realized that it's like trying to please someone you don't even like. Why would I want to be among these people who would leave me the second they find out I like something like incest fics or age gaps?

They would never accept you. Only a version of you.

And even worse was the thought of people like me from before, lurking and trying to find someone who understands them. If I were to hide stuff about me that would essentially be saying "don't be yourself. what you think and love is unacceptable. you should be ashamed and pretend to be normal"

And I wouldn't want that.

Please don't hide for the sake of some others you don't even really want to be friends with.

i have come to the realisation i do not know how to make friends as an adult—online or otherwise. especially because of the hostility directed at the profic community, i feel vulnerable in any group or fandom i join. i used to make friends through amino role-play but i have to regain the confidence to rp again, if i can even find somewhere that accepts me.

fandom etiquette as a whole died when people who didn’t grow up on fandoms became stans during lockdown, yes, but why am i seeing people openly mocking fics on twitter. why am i seeing screenshots of fics with captions like “bro what is this 😭.” why am i seeing people mock fic writers for not knowing how sports or theater or college or any other organization operates in the real world.

“college is absolutely nothing like this” “why are we writing four people on the team scoring a hat trick in one game” “so tech work is nothing like this, hope that helps!”

if you don’t like a fic, and if you can’t suspend your belief enough to enjoy a fic that exaggerates or ignores real-world orgs, you don’t have to read it. you don’t have to screenshot it and put it on blast for twitter. you don’t have to post a link to it in the replies. the back button is literally there on your phone. it’s not giving baby’s first fandom anymore, it’s giving entitled asshole and it isn’t as cute as you think it is.

Anyway my stance on fiction and online harassment is shaped by the fact that I had unrestricted access to the local library from about the age of 8 and read quite a few books with fucked up content that I might have been a bit too young for and that caused absolutely no long-term damage to my mental health; meanwhile I was bullied mercilessly by my peers for several years and I’m still dealing with after-effects of that.

My story:

Unrestricted internet access as a kid. Loved my little pony. Found MLP rapefics, which i basically saw as horror fics /angst fics, and read them.

When im 10 a friend tells me about the shit her mother does to her. She thinks it's normal. I realize from the fanfics I read that its sexual abuse.i tell a teacher.

I as a child was able to identify my friend being sexually abused because of rapefic. I dont exactly call myself proship because its a frustratingly vague term, and im not even really sure what my stance is, but at least in one instance the fact that rapefics exist led to a 9 year old girl not having to worry about her mom touching her.

I wouldn't personally be comfortable with my kid reading rapefic and it also taught me a lot of shit that wasn't true, but I was learning stuff I wasnt gonna learn anywhere else until much later. Im not saying you should show kids rapefic but I am saying dead Dove stuff that labels awful shit as BEING awful shit when nothing else a kid knows about even discusses it is much much better than nothing at all.

Being an antishipper fundamentally denies the existence of asexual people btw. If ace people exist and have sexual fantasies and masturbate (they do, if you think they don't you are ignorant of what asexuality is) and they do not want to engage in those activities in real life then its not hard to imagine a person who does not want to engage in their fantasies in real life and separates them from reality. Much like a lot of arguments centered around "think of the children" it's not actually about the children, it's about making a select few people comfortable with what you do in your private circle in the internet. Antis will refuse to engage honestly with arguments in the vast majority of the time because being an anti for a prolonged period of time requires a general lack of thought on the subject or a lack of intellectual honesty.
