Hey this post is not for terfs btw. The umbrella term āqueerā is used here on purpose.
look at this
we don't credit rebecca sugar enough for making the episode with the first gay wedding in a kids show extremely plot relevant so it could not be skipped or cut.
#rebecca sugar has gone on record saying that they knew from the beginning they wanted ruby and sapphire and they put every inch of planning#in to make sure that the studio could not take them out. sugar has said theyād compromised on hundreds of things theyād wanted for steven#so that they had the bargaining power specifically to keep ruby and sapphireās relationship#and a number of āfillerā episodes were created just to establish counter-arguments that might come up when they pitched the wedding episode#the one that comes to mind is the episode about steven and connie getting lost in roseās room stevenās central conflict about liking their#fave book seriesā romantic ending was later weaponised when producerās were like āoh but stevenās a boy he wonāt be too interested in them#getting marriedā sugar was able to be like āno. in this episode itās established he loves romance and specifically weddings. and in these#episodes itās shown how much steven cares about ruby and sapphire and their relationship and happiness. you cannot convince me this is not#good and necessary plot development#and they wrapped it up in the season finale and the big climactic point of the diamonds finally coming to attack earth to make the#episode integral to the series no skipping it without confusion. and had ruby wear a wedding dress because international censors took#advantage of her design to give her a masculine va#and sugar made certain that everybody knew This was a queer love story that an entire town supported and admired and that any child watchin#it at home would know they are not alone and that that support is waiting for them out there somewhere#sugar sacrificed the wider story they wanted to tell for that and it was a horrible decision to be given but they made the right choice
"i dont like intersectional feminist terminology because it implies that i have the capacity and means to enact violence and thats unfair because im literally so niceys" - one of the most dangerous and unsafe people youll ever meet
these people will say "hey dont group me in with all the other white/male/cis/TME people, im one of the good ones" without a shred of self-awareness
i think the elon musk nazi salute thing will always be this little "2020s in a nutshell" moment for me. the adl taking the time off their busy schedule of noting every instance of someone saying "free palestine" as an antisemitic hatecrime to swoop in and reassure everyone that was definitely not a nazi salute as mr "judeobolshevik shadow elites are transing our children to advance white genocide? interesting. looking into it" would never
tumblr has always been so overwhelmingly white but especially the like. āemoā scene. do you know how frustrating it is to be a hispanic 11 year old with super curly hair and get into this kind of music and look up emo people online and everyone looks like jeff the killer
ok sorry to double reblog BUT I just looked him up and he does these fantastic videos where he breaks down HOW he actually mimics the other artistsā styles. Like for ed Sheeran, he explains how he brings his voice forward in the mouth, while Adam Levine sings in the back of the mouth, stuff like that. Itās SO COOL, I donāt think Iāve ever seen anyone actually break down how to do this sort of thing, as a skill, instead of just treating it like a neat trick they just happen to be good at. https://www.tiktok.com/@justinjmooremusic
Check him out heās so cool
Stop saying ādo it scaredā i do everything scared I sleep scared Boy iāll kill u

While I sort of get the impulse, it does always get my back up when people talk about something like Animorphs with this attitude of 'omgggg remember these books, how on EARTH were we allowed to read these books, they're so grim and dark and violent and tragic, no adults could possibly have known what they actually contained or they'd have been banned.'
And like. Allowing for the fact that there absolutely are adults who think every distressing topic ever should be banned from children's literature - they're children's books. You were allowed to read them when you were a kid because they were written for kids. Bridge to Terabithia is also a children's book. So is Where the Red Fern Grows and Old Yeller and Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry and The Giver and loads of other books that deal with heavy, difficult topics. It is appropriate and good for children to have books about these things that are tailored to their reading levels and it genuinely really bugs me when people act like they're somehow not really for kids because bad things happen in them or they end tragically.
Imagine all of these realizations flooding into this person's brain after a slow gestation of 10 years it all bursts open all at once as one realization as every realization and suddenly everything makes sense in a moment of total perfect clarity and oneness with the earth the universe
So I follow N. D. Stevenson (comics writer and animator, most famous for Nimona and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power) and his husband Lee Ostertag (also a comics writer and animator) on Instagram. When I started following them, they were both publicly presenting as women, and then a few years ago N. D. came out as transmasc nonbinary, and then earlier this year Lee also came out as transmasc. Anyway this is all setup to say that Lee had the chance to make the funniest post of all time and he took it:
Absolutely iconic.
I want to throw in that part of the context behind this meme was N.D. talking about how he sometimes gets hatemail for marrying a man as a former lesbian, and how many people seem to think he divorced his wife.
I have not managed to find anyone who thinks that in the wild, but it is so damn funny.
