Whilst most occupants of the quaint little town pursued acceptance over rejection as an answer to the confessions they so bravely gave, things were much different for that of an already engaged couple. Vying for the attention of their beloved, competing with others for their heart and chancing everything on those deep feelings being returned was no longer an actual worry nor concern, the times of insecurities of that nature having long since passed. Struggling to keep the spark alive was the only challenge that existed, if it could even be likened to a difficult task.
A relationship should only continue to flourish without the need for excess effort. When it came to the two incredibly, and unrealistically, eccentric individuals such a thing proved to be an easy affair as their spontaneity provided interest in the other for years to come. Surprisingly though, the way in which they'd chosen to spend this day for lovers was quite generic as remaining in the comfort of their home rather than venturing outwards had been the selected way of celebration. This was by far more personal as a superficially perfect date surrounded by others disallowed the simple pleasure of enjoying the company of the one you loved.
When it came down to it, that's all that really mattered.
Having patiently awaited to be joined by the ogre who'd long since disappeared into the bowels of the kitchen, the Hyakume had become somewhat jittery, the anticipation about what was to come just a tad much to handle. Inquires about how much longer had been held back, the man having chosen to not childishly whine, but to instead silently wait for whatever it was that his lover had in store for him. Knowing Kagerou, he wouldn't be disappointed. That did not ease the impatience coursing through him, though.
It was about high time he encountered someone more akin to his tastes than those that preferred to be hidden and quiet within the city. It never hurt to be around the people who fit your personality the most, people would say. Thus, it was a relief, and almost expected, to witness his fiance amongst the new scenery. Destined to meet no matter the height or width of their journey or not, he was surely glad of this outcome.
He decided to approach from behind before noticing the otherâs attention was drawn to a rabbit and, halting his steps, it was to his astonishment that such a simple animal could lift him in a daze. It was a reminder of where they were and the new beginning that was thrust upon them. How so, would they function in this space? It required the thought of the one who accompanied him. Attention had to be gained through the rabbit, if he desired for it.
Creeping up towards the animal by itâs side, hunched and tiptoeing, arms spread out only a tad with his elbows sticking out to appear as if he were a monster, the clapping of boots was unfortunately a dead giveaway for his plans. Head shot in the direction of Zange in order to follow out his orders effectively, though it gave him right to question the motives,
"Have you had practice before, Zange? How scandalous of you! A secret lady killer, are you? I like itâŠ" As if giving serious thought to his fiance once being a shark capturing plenty of fish in the sea, he soon enough began to remember the task at hand, a slight wave in Zangeâs direction being put in place, "I will be right back to discuss you being a lady killer in exquisite detail!" A few obnoxious laughs before continuing on for his task, this time chasing the rabbit in order to catch it.
Despite the consequences, he skid across the ground to grab a hold of the animal, the rabbit having no choice but to succumb to his will and brute force. White attire completely ruined, it was a terribly excited turn of events, Kagerou cradling the creature within his arms and patting it on the head in victory whilst walking to his fiance, pride glowing through his grin.
Almost shoving it in his arms, he hoped that he had accomplished what was desired. He wouldnât mind a view of the other gentle petting it, too. Braiding his hair deliberately for no more dirt to take part in dirtying it. Calmly and a tad curious, he decided to carry on with their interrupted conversation.
"So, would you like to tell me about those days as a lady killer?"
Despite having already being privy to the ogre's residency in the town, to have met at this time had been reasonably surprising. Originally having intended to seek out the older male once his childish bout of fun had met it's end, the man had instead gotten the jump on him by participating in full. It wasn't something worth raising a complaint about as they had been playmates for far too long, rather the redhead should've thought to include him at the very beginning
Bearing a noticeably more enthused smile, the belief of a flirtatious past caused a snicker to escape. Kagerou's overwhelming exuberance was familiar and wholly welcomed, a hand lifting in salute to the man's eagerness for carrying out the senseless task of consoling the four-legged animal. It went unseen though, spouted nonsense of being among those popular during high school days causing eyes to blink once, doing so again a third time when no sooner did the ogre dart off in hot pursuit of the poor rabbit.
Left in a speechless stupor for but a moment, lips slowly curled into an insouciant smile. The time they'd been separated had indeed been short, it should've come as no surprise that Kagerou would be just as last seen, charmingly abrasive and horribly confused. It was what the Hyakume had come to love without question, though exasperation often reared it's ugly head when things escalated to something utterly ludicrous
Such as the very moment a dirt covered ogre returned with rabbit in tow.
Facial features clearly showing the disbelief brought by this outcome, the rabbit that was forced upon him was cradled in his arms delicately. The gentleness contrasted sharply with the expression on display, the repeated line of believed flirtatious ways causing eyes to slant in a flat stare. A couple passing minutes in which he persisted with the unrelenting look went by before the load in his arms was shifted to rest more comfortably, and then did he speak.
"Did you roll around in some mud, Kage-tan? I know you love your swine so much, but I never thought you'd do as they do." Ignoring the man's probing in place of poking fun at the disheveled appearance, a hand reached out to brush at a dirtied spot on the other's shoulder. "You were supposed to soothe this poor girl's heart, not scare her half to death. Tsk tsk, Kage-tan, I expected you of all people to know how to properly take care of her."
Having gradually shifted back to a more amused state of being, the chastisements were light and without a hint of seriousness. Granted, it was somewhat disagreeable for a grown man to come back like a child who'd played outside after a rainstorm, it was ordinary behavior for the ogre. Being truly bothered by something that was customary would be pure foolishness though, especially when humor could be obtained instead.
The silent sounds of the wind through the modest translucent curtains of her small room, were unlike the ones of her apartment room at the Maison. Tentatively, she opens the glass panes wider and a rush of the country breeze blasts on through. Beyond the frames lay a vast landscape of rural nature, and the scene was so pristine and idyllic, it might as well have been one of the art pieces she had back at home.
Exiting the wooden confinement, Ririchiyo was never fond of being a country girl butâthe distance away from everything that linked her to the past wasâŠliberating. Realistically however, all this may not last for long. The other atavists who may still be at the Ayakashi Kan may be worried about her and in return, she was concerned also. But this was a thought she kept deep within the confines of her mind, and was kept under great care not to be expressed publicly.
That of course, was a practice the demoness had been following for as long as she could remember. The violette was all too familiar with masking her true persona towards most people. Yet now there was a part of her that felt different somehow.. Her connections to her youkai ancestry felt almost nonexistent, as if she was at last a normal girl. At the moment, Ririchiyo deemed this irrelevant and took to the streets to see the rest of the picture-perfect countryside.
The teenâs deep purple hues could not be taken off of the sights before her. Horse carriages, bustling marketplaces and european traditional customs were new and fascinating to her. All until a large shadow stood before her ignorantly and blocked the radiant sunlight. With her heart racing, she could sense the incoming front being built inside of her as she uttered out a sarcastic comment.
âHuh, looks like this place not only has its fill of foreign culture but also has a bunch of bumbling, ignorant citizens as well,â the petite girl scoffed aloud bluntly, all the while rolling her amethyst hues in a haughty fashion, "Not only are you people horrid at welcoming visitors, but your rundown village fails to have any tasteful tourist attractions. I canât wait to get out of here so I can rid myself of this commonfolk lifestyle."
Accustoming himself to the new environment hadn't taken much time at all. Already having needed to do so in the last city he'd found himself a citizen of, this was regarded as simply moving into a new home. Despite how this was a more rural venue while the previous had been just as modern as the world he'd been born into this life, past experiences played a helping hand in making the adjustment as seamless as possible.
Acquaintances residing here had only contributed to the ease of the task, the Hyakume more than aware that some had been given refuge as he'd already been fortunate enough to greet them. One particular female remained unattended though, a haughty individual that surely was flunking in the art of proper etiquette. Manners were crucial, niceties the only way in which to acquire company and prevent any more loneliness from taking root. The teenager was well aware of this, but had continued to foolishly persist in being rather unpleasant without truly meaning to be.
Having been the one to unsparingly point out the vital flaws in the way the girl went about things in the past, it seemed as though his ability to not sugarcoat what needed to be said was required once more. For that had the young heiress been sought, the tall man standing before her form and harshly cut down before the girl had even known the identity of the one she'd spoken to in such a way. Look before you leap was an expression that Ririchiyo honestly needed to learn.
Leaning down enough to be eye level with the careless younger, eyelids closed as lips spread into a undaunted smile. It looked anything but wicked, though the words that were formed would perhaps make up for that.
"Ah, ah! That's no good, Chiyo-tan. You're supposed to be polite and apologize, not lash out with insults. If you keep up like this all your effort will have been in vain." This was but a prelude to admonishing the ruthless criticism, the redhead's methods of providing insightful aid sure to continue to sound like chastisements. "Has there even been any effort at all, I wonder ~ ? In a place like this you have to give 120%. Otherwise, you'll be an outcast before you know it."
Yoruichi had been wondering around the island for hours aimlessly, unsure of where she was going. The sun had begun to sink lower and lower but the idea of night didnât bother her; itâs not like there were any monsters on the island.Â
She wandered into a clearing and her eyes picked up a pink-haired person, who seemed to be sitting down in the grass. When she approached the pink-haired figure she noticed a rabbit run off and as soon as it fled, the man said something.
Yoruichi sighed in response and put her hand on her hip, âAnd just when I thought Iâd found someone who could help me⊠but instead itâs just someone whoâs giving me dating advice, no less with an animal.âÂ
A response of this sort was the most expected of them all, though it was not entirely disappointing. Anything could be made into a jest laced with truth, all that was necessary was something to work off of. Fortunately, the woman had given just enough.
"Relationships with others is the most important thing so any advice on how to keep things sailing smoothly is plenty helpful. ~ If you can't even get along with an animal, then how could you hope to ever keep a friendship with a human? Start with the basics and work your way up. âȘ"
When? She couldnât exactly tell how, but she was used to such strange occasions. Being a supernatural inspector, it was a required trait to have; to quickly get over the oddities and become accustomed to it, or else you will turn into the bait.Â
Looking around, it seemed as though she stumbled herself into a small village that lacked people considering how environmental friendly it appeared to be. How peculiar. If it was she who has decided in visiting here, then perhaps there was a purpose. Another thing she could note was how she felt as if she lacked in strength. Frankly, it wasnât too much to make a huge difference in her stamina but it felt like a small part of her has drained out. Without wasting more time in a sheltered place, she set herself into the wide, natural scenery and headed off without a saying.
Ah, how she couldnât cope well with the country life. Although respect was given to its traditional habitats, the blonde couldnât stand the bugs that swarmed around and the obnoxious sounds those animals make in the morning. Whose to say she wasnât more of a city person? Oh well, now that she was tangled into this situation, it was better off searching for some positive aspects instead of seeking for more unpleasant qualities to complain about. Upon arriving, she has passed by a couple of pedestrians before reaching the central square. The town itself didnât appear to be lacking modernized characteristics. In fact, it was rather decent, in which that meant there was something she can adjust around here.
This wasnât an assigned quest requested for her, yet her instincts enforced her to investigate for awhile. Might as well learn about where she was if she was going to stay here for god knows how long.
Sky hues laid upon the nearest person to her, then without giving the individual a chance to be prepared or let them finish their errand, she inquisitively asked in a bold manner,
Those with privileged upbringings would find it difficult to adjust to a lifestyle so vastly different from the luxurious one that they'd known since their birth. A couple rare cases that had refrained from using the wealth of their parents and had set out to make income of their own might fair better, but that wouldn't be the case for most of the the half-youkai citizens that had once made up the prestigious Ayakashi-kan.
Most certainly the familiar female that'd placed herself before his visage was of the sort that would find this situation unreasonable. The abrasive personality of hers had clearly gone unaffected by the changes to her livelihood, but the royal blood within her would make this akin to a challenging conquest. She was a venerable princess among paupers and, despite how she had stubbornly managed a side job in order to set herself apart from that revered title, this was still far too amusing.
Lips curled into a mirthful grin, an easy telling that the redhead was harboring questionable thoughts rather than disparaging ones. The inner workings of his mind were but a mystery as who would be openly enthusiastic at a time like this.
"Absolutely nothing," came the cheery exclamation, one completely unbecoming the nature of her question. "We're the clueless twosome, Nobara-chan! Lost without hope, stranded without someone to show us the way! Oh, what will become of us ~ !" Being as overly dramatic as the woman was accustomed to, there failed to be any genuine concern about the lack of knowledge. It would come in time so dwelling on it was rather pointless.
My character âaccidentallyâ meets yours under the mistletoe.
Holiday delights were always partaken in with a certain degree of glee, the redhead generally eager to carry out the established traditions with the aid of his lover. Theyâd done so ever since their friendship had initially been formed and nothing would change despite the new status of their relationship. Rather, it made it all the more essential to properly celebrate the season by kissing under the mistletoe, something theyâd done all the years previous but would mean something a little more now.
With great purpose had the younger man brought his lover to stand beneath the festive greenery to do just that, the small branch strung up much too innocently within the doorway. Clearly taking the initiative in carrying out what was meant to occur as a result of being beneath it, his hands settled on either side of the otherâs waist and tugged him forward until they were just short of being pressed just a tad too intimately for public
A less than demure smile played upon his lips when he chided, âItâs tradition.âÂ
Inclining his head towards the ogreâs with no real urgency, lips gently set against those of the otherâs in the beginning of an sweet, unhurried kiss. Soft pressure was all that was applied, no action taken to deepen the contact aside from fingers flexing against what was in their grasp. Simply savoring something undeniably loving was all that mattered. Thatâs what the holidays were about, after all.
An end would always exist, it was truly impossible for something to continue for all time. It'd simply come earlier than anticipated and on a much larger scale as it had been the entire world that'd been smothered out like a candle rather than solely his life alone. Death of this sort was something he'd unwillingly become accustomed to, new beginnings known to differ none from what had previously been lived. The setting might have changed, but did not mean that the self had, this fact sustained by how this was far from the first time something of this nature had occurred.
Determent did not exist due to those past experiences, but a single concern had taken root in regards to if his lover had come to dwell here as well. The worry was easily quelled through the aid of a vision, gratifying relief felt for something that disdain was normally the only emotion directed towards. The knowledge that he wasn't alone only furthered the belief that carrying on relatively unaffected was possible just as the Hyakume had done all the centuries beforehand.
Something this idyllic had not been lived in for quite some time now though, the appeals of modern day more favorable than those of the early age. It didn't do well for the ever dwindling health of his, physical exertion not something he was privy to or capable of. Luckily, there were a great many ways to obtain entertainment without doing much at all. This would be displayed almost immediately though a rabbit that had occupied his attention for quite a bit of time. It had darted off when another human had drawn too near, providing an opportunity to stir up a bit of harmless mischief.
"All wrong! You've got to take a more deli~cate approach. If you move too fast you'll only continue to scare her away." Sounding akin to advice on how to treat women were the playful chastisements, a hand making to wave forwards as if signaling for the one responsible for the animal's retreat to follow after. "You have to make it up to her. Things will only get worse the longer you wait." Chuckling softly behind his other hand, for the other person to do as instructed wasn't expected but their reaction would surely be interesting either way.
A beautiful sight to behold. Crimson staining lips the same color as the locks atop his head. Pupils being stung by the touches that his fingertips gave them that laid on pale skin. An absolutely disgusting reveal of words that neither would ever display. An emotion of redemption â was there such a thing in this situation? Although the one before him was in the position of lover once upon a time, all the mustered through his veins was lust. An empty sentiment that the both of them had thought of deserving.
A quirking of his lips had formed a smirk full of humor. Dull, unmotivated humor, a chuckle bubbling past his lips in an attempt to regain a less hideous act than the Hyakume had already placed into action. A hand falling threw parts of raven was appreciated in a sense, however, it was no way positive or reassuring. Teeth began biting around the eye on his arm in no time at all, tongue tasting the juice of onyx while listening on with intent, his own pupils closed as if to soak every inch of his actions and his loverâs words in.
Heâd stop for a moment to respond back, smoothly, with no hesitation, âNo, you are much more beautiful. As if you are a peacock in disguise, only showing their true nature once they reveal their entire body. Tell me.. Donât you think that once are true natures come out, we have more potential than any?â Sincere words with a voice to match, it was a statement heâd believe while in this form. Or perhaps he had always presumed that the one before him appeared better when he showed this disgusting nature of his.
Yes, because while he had kept him alive, it was now his turn to end his suffering, whether he was himself or not. It was only right when he forced him to endure a horrendous life such as his. The collar of the otherâs shirt was grasped in two fists, Kagerou dragging him down to the ground, climbing on top of him, however, not allowing his upper body to lie down along with the lower half. Hands still clutching at his shirt, rushed, quiet, torn, deep and regretful was his voice,
âYou want to end this pain, right? You donât want to cry all alone at night anymore, right? You want the easy way out, the simplest way out. Youâve always been like that until I snapped you out of it. So like the sadist I am, Iâm not going to give it to you so soon.â Adjusting his face to his view, fingers hovered over his left eye, âYouâre taking the harder way out, Zange. It was my choice before, and itâs the same this time.â
Body was virtually numb to the feeling of dull incisors eagerly digging into his flesh as if partaking in the beginnings of a meal. It was fitting and rightfully ironic for a willing sacrificial lamb to be laid out before a martyr, of all things. Contrary to the shortcomings, as well as the current controlled violent tendencies, the selfless acts that'd almost stolen the ogre's life prior to entering this city had earned him that title. It wasn't simply a humorous comparison, but rather one believed whole-heartedly.
Not entirely unprecedented was the parallel that likened him to an exquisite creature, it managing to cause breath to catch in his throat due to the sheer absurdity. A moment was needed to exhale, objections automatically leaving his lips. "That's not right at all. Peacocks are beautiful birds, able to mesmerize all who look upon their visage. I'm nothing of the sort." Stubbornly clinging to the the belief that there was not a creature more hideous than himself, adamant denials were the only protection in this ludicrous turnabout.  "Do you even hear yourself, Kagerou? Potential? All I'm capable of doing is rushing to my death. I'm sure you're aware of that now."
Lips became uplifted in a self-deprecating smile by that truthful concession. The situation at hand only influenced that undeniable fact that much more, as no one bearing a desire to live would have knowingly approached the ogre. If only what'd been intended would come about without further delay, but it seemed that the other man fancied unintelligent squabble. Without forethought, without consideration, did the belittling sound with the clear intent to pierce through his very heart. At this point, such was not possible, leaving for the sort of response only a broken man could give.
Hushed laughter slipped from curved lips, terrifyingly unsound as the intensity steadily inclined upwards in an unrestrained display of how difficult it truly was to maintain one's sanity under the pressuring fissures of despair ridden calamity. A break in control, the carefully constructed mask had been completely shattered by the accusations cast by the malicious youkai. Something once broken can never return to it's original state, and the Hyakume had long ago been demolished; it'd just never shown as clearly as it did now.
"The easy way out? Do you even hear yourself, Kagerou?" Voice hoarse, almost strained by the hysertics, digits clutched at a perspiring face. "There was never a way out to begin with. This is just .. a never ending cycle. I die, and I come back. I die, and I come back." Like some sort of sick movie playing within his mind, it was rewound endlessly. Such was his very life. "I experience everything all over again, and then some! This .. this right here isn't the easy way out, it's just helping it start all over again, this vicious cycle of mine."Â
Body eased forwards in the grip of his lover after that cutting confession, hands reaching out so that palms were able to lay over the narrowed gaze boring down from above. "Hiding is the only comfort there is, but you know that very well. We both wear masks in order to conceal the unchangeable truth. So, for you to say I'm trying to take the easy way out .. It's hypocritical." Misconceptions had been torn asunder, completely ridiculous from the very start. It was only fair to show just how foolish the ogre had been, how inconsiderate, and how very similar they truly were.
Being surrounded by the otherâs presence with well known glee. It was to be expected for the ogre to feel appreciative, to feel as if this was the times that he desired the most, when they were to speak and not feel physically. These touches were only to stay near to his lover, to bask with his lover, to learn of his lover, to tell his lover; they were nothing of the kind to stroke his skin with hungry intent and leave. No, those times would be left on days where they spoke no word as earnestly as the sentences that formed from their mouths during the few hours that they had partaken in this night of engaging.
He knew. He knew well enough that nights like these could barely be handled by the both of them. Love at this extent was never something he thought that he would be able to hold with his hands and wrap his mind around it with memories. He would soak in every ounce possible so that he may live carefree from the concept that had hunted him all his life. It wasnât strange to wish for these times to never end by the slow pace that he had set.
His mind was far from clouded. It was free of concerns and blabber that he would normally do to hide up the emotions within. It was time to react with no haste, with love, with respect, with the desire of forever. The ring signified it, after all. Light breaths and the bumping of their noses and the smooth lips against his rough, chapped ones and the teeth that would scrap those ruined lips from time to time only reminding him of the skill that the other lacked in kissing. The buttons that were played with had forced a light hum to escape his lips, anticipation and excitement running through his body.
The attention that was lavished onto him wasnât allowed to be responded to as lips engaged with his once more, and for some reason he had appreciated that. He wasnât used to it. Compliments coming from his lover was always a treat to him, and he would soak in it just like the rest of this night. All he could feel was unexplained joy that the other wished to bring upon that confession to him, although not with words, the hands that were stroking his chest a sure indication of what he had meant as a whole.
Acknowledgment was not given towards the removal of the stifling fabric swathing a burning upper half, focus remaining solely upon the one pressed beneath his body. Indulgence was of the utmost importance, making for the adjustment of their position to go unnoticed as well. It was only at a soothing warmth cupping a cheek that eyelids languidly slid open, mouth parting in question but lips formed a pout rather than inquiring words due to what heâd unthinkingly made the other male aware of.Â
Childish in nature was this sort of jealousy, the exact reason itâd been a well kept secret thus far. Already flushed cheeks were unable to lose their scarlet hue as compliments succeeded in making this that much worse, the Hyakume wishing to simply burrow beneath the comforter for a respite from this untimely outcome. Kisses placed persistently upon his form and the arms wrapped snugly about a rather thin waist prevented escape though, leaving no option other than to attempt to redirect the conversation onto something that would allow this embarrassing desire of his to be temporarily forgotten.
âOn the topic of past lovers, are we? Iâm allowed to talk about my own then, right?â The request for no teasing was blatantly disregarded. âIâm sure it should be pret~ty obvious who one of them is. Sou-tan might be cold, but it doesnât take long for him to warm up.â A pause was taken as if to allow that to be fully processed.  âOr so youâd think. Sou-tanâs too boring for anything like that.â Shoulders shrugged in a careless manner as the redhead was not bothered in the least. The open pleas to actually partake in something of that nature had been nothing more than an attempt at drawing entertainment from one completely incapable of providing it. Nothing more, nothing less.
Musing over whether this information would be a cause for jubilation for his lover, the dominant position heâd maintained thus far was lost. Hands had abandoned the expanse of the otherâs bare chest moments before the switch had taken place, and now they rose to swipe the hairband without hesitation in a clear act of defiance. Riling up the relatively level-headed ogre was always an amusing game, honestly.
Still, allowing for this memorable day to be completely spoiled by such petty delights would be an unmistakable waste. Much forethought had gone into the evening and to allow the purposeful planning to not be wholly appreciated would be inexcusable. This man was the one whoâd shone a light through the harrowing darkness of his beliefs, imparting a level of happiness thatâd been unthinkable. Genuine smiles occured more often, future days actually anticipated, and while his existence was one still adamantly loathed, a fragment of acceptance had finally come about after centuries without.
All this would never have been possible without this man.
With an airy chuckle did lids flutter closed at the ticklish feeling of the nose brushing against his own. âAnd here I thought I was good at hiding things like that." Mused in a thoughtful way, again did lips meet with a brief intensity before moving on to pay homage to skin bared to an azure gaze. Kisses were peppered down the exposed length, the digits of the entrapped wrist flexing as the lavishing was openly delighted in. When movement stilled, the initiative was to be taken by the Hyakume in a way he normally refrained from.
Easily recalling the positive response thereâd been when pointed ears had been surveyed, the memory was to be put to good use. Bare digits drew the older upwards enough that shoulders could be used as leverage, body lifting in a way for heated breath to puff deliberately against a clearly human lobe. While less sensitive than the ones examined, they were still just as susceptible. A faint murmur of lips against the flesh was all there was before a teasing flick of the tongue followed, the touches light and fleeting and most assuredly not nearly satisfying enough. Perhaps it was stingy to hold out like this, but good things come to those who wait.
Current location was abandoned as he decidedly chose to explore in the same manner that the ogre had previously. Lips smoothed across a prominent adamâs apple, the arch of the neck traced downwards for slight pressure to be placed upon a broad shoulder in the form of teeth biting down just so. Descending even further allowed for his tongue to dip into the indent of a collarbone, a hand leaving the ogreâs shoulder to thread through obsidian locks to force his head into the proper position for a searing kiss.
âKagerou.â Voice heady with want, lips brushed with every word. âChange into your youkai form.â
