Talk to me, SilentLily shills! I need to talk about these two. I love them so much!
Be kind to each other (•ˋ _ ˊ•)
Honestly, anyone who unironically speaks ill of Big is a major red flag for me.
Of all the characters to criticize or hate on, of all the ones that are mischaracterized or poorly written, why Big? Why would you hate on Big The Goddamn Cat?
SHE MENTIONED HER SON
You know, all the power to those who theorize Silent Salt to be Elder Faerie or White Lily's father, but personally? I wouldn't like him to be tied to other previously established characters, but more so understand them in a way that make them uncomfortable.
I would see way more potential in him being a twisted reflection of the last stage of grief, the one who understands both heroes and beasts to perfection, and sees no point in meaningless dabble.
SMC (Denial): Lies to everyone and himself to free himself from the thoughts that would make him feel weak and impotent, trying to distance himself from the bitter truth out of fear.
ESC (Bargaining): Sacrificed her passion and virtue in seeking those she cared about safe from danger thinking that would be the best way to handle it.
BSC (Anger): Incapable of making his civilizations change for the better and stuck going in circles, he grew frustrated and angry, craving destruction in search of satisfaction.
MFC (Sadness): Feeling incapable of granting happiness and unable to keep her will and resolution strong, she fell into apathy thinking all of her efforts and life itself to be meaningless (She herself is an analogy for depression already).
SSC (Accceptance): Trying to fulfill his purpose of bringing solidarity to earthbread, he was constantly obstructed by the rise in conflict from cookies who sook personal gain and greed. He tried to understand all of the other beasts in order to gain a broader perspective, seeking knowledge, change, volition, happiness, anything that would make his way clearer, to understand what was it he needed to do to fulfill their purpose. Maybe she saw the Witch's Banquet too, maybe they saw their fellow beasts fall and grew distraught, maybe he saw deeper into both sides of their Souljam, but in the end, he understood the futility of his nature and came to an epiphany.
The only world where true solidarity exists, is one where cookies have no voice to cry for their free will.
A world where silence is law.
So.... I was partially right.
But that curveball hit like a fucking bullet train.
WHAT THE FUCK
sigh
back to the drawing board we gooooooo
(the update was a banger tho, i love it, i really do, i'm just pissed a little bit)
I think you are missing a big opportunity by raging against his canon.
Because if he isn't the one to seal the beasts in your AU.
That gives you the chance to make him the reason they got sealed.
Why not lean into the myth of his massacre? Why not lean into his anger, his regret, his hatred and guilt, all of that condensed hate within that has no place to go other than out into the world.
Oooh and DE might take advantage of that
His redemption would be the hardest of them all, and it wouldn't be far fetched to say that he (knowing what happened to elder faerie) wouldn't return to darkness anymore. I mean, even PV fell for a time, and that was without the grief of seeing all of his people die meaningless deaths because of betrayals and lies by the people he protected.
That level of crashout would make earthbread quake.

I just had a really fucked idea for what Silent Salt's army will be.
It is shown through the trailers and teasers that Silent Salt's whole domain is ridden with death and decay, and that he is one of, if not the only cookie left standing in the land of Silence.
So how would there be enemies to fight?
...
What if he was a necromancer?
What if his acceptance of futility brought him to fight for his beliefs even against the very flow of life and death, a sacrilege so putrid that it goes against everything the witches made.
What if, as Lily challenges him and claims to not be afraid, or that she will not let herself be consumed by the past, Salt makes it so she has to relive her own hell, by rescucitating the crumbs of those who fell in his domain and The Dark Flour War.
What if he forces her to witness as she has to cut through all of the innocents, the men, the woman, the children, and all of those that Dark Enchantress turned into nothing but memories.
A way to rub salt in still-open wounds
So.....
Is anybody up for some gravedigging?
shadow milk youre absolutely DOOMED.
the authors open fetish that complements the themes of their work
important plot device thats also just authors fetish. call that a jackoffs gun
Hahaha, me.
Greetings, knight of the stillness.
I have humbly arrived before you to ask you a single, if bold question:
Do you feel resent towards the Witches for giving you a virtue that cannot truly be fulfilled? Or do you feel something else towards that forsaken duty?
“…it’s difficult to explain, I spent my entire life doing things in their name, I protected their sacred places, guarded their secrets… spread their teachings… all I asked for in return was their guidance… but through it all, as the other virtues crumbled… they never once answered my prayers… in the end… even they abandoned me.”
You were given an impossible task, for a purpose that you did not believe in.
You weren't ever at fault for falling, that outcome was never in your hands to decide.
But why take your sword against the world you were given? Why try to shut the voices that called, prayed and reveired your name, instead of the ones who shouted it to command you?
“…it wasn’t I that took the lives of my pupils and comrades… it was those who I once considered friends that took them from me, be it through blade or spell or hollow words. in spite of my efforts… in the end no matter what I gave, no matter how loud or brutal the fight for their solidarity… in the end only silence did remain.”
And what now?
The path has been cleared, and there is no burden to hold you back.
Your other half has shown you that you have the strength to change the world. Be it by changing it for the better from the ground up, or to cut the tyranical strings that hold it in place.
Be either the Dark Witch or the Gentle Druid, she has shown you a path.
So, Honoured Knight, lord of Silence and Solidarity, of union and stillness.
What path will you tread?

not doomed by the narrative but certainly disciplined
Let the narrative humble you, to teach you your faults and your limits, then use what you learned to overcome it, and make it your own.
Finally Salt!!! 😮💨
