Royal Link AU Masterpost

What's the Royal Link AU?

An AU set milleniums after the events of LU and LOZ. Sky and Sun, descendants far down the line rule the kingdom of Hyrule. Legend, their son, making him the prince. Warrior, serves as a bodyguard for Legend, Wild as a bodyguard to Sky and Sun. The rest of the Links live as civilians. Trouble brews as a group called the Servants of Demise come out of hiding to wreak havoc.

Time’s eye widened. Sky laughed, but it sounded a little more uneasy than times previous. 

“Obviously my instinct was to pull out my sword, but I didn’t have one, so I thrust out my arm and blasted him again. No magic came out. That electric-green look in his eyes grew brighter. The sheets of ice on his arms and legs began to steam, and the tip of his boot came to rest right under my chin.

“‘You know that you can’t use a magician’s own spells against him, right?’

“That was the only thing he said before he blasted me across the theatre.”

🌹 Who fell harder & who fell first?

This is tough because I honestly feel like they both experienced "crush at first sight" 😂 I guess I would say that Zelda falls first though, because I can see her being very easily charmed by Link's personality and mannerisms lol. Meanwhile, I feel like it takes Link some time to process that he has a crush on Zelda, and he spends a lot of his time blushing bashfully without really understanding why. He's a simple minded guy sometimes. Bless his heart lol ❤️

He definitely falls hard for Zelda later on though. Literally every small moment of affection drives him crazy. But I think Zelda is kind of in the same boat whenever he's sweet to her, so who knows? Maybe they both fall hardest 🤣

😳 What’s the most embarrassing thing they’ve walked in on the other doing?

Well this is fun, because ALTTP Zelink can communicate telepathically (or at least, Zelda can), so it really opens the door for a lot of "I got this phone call at the wrong time" moments 😂 It wouldn't surprise me if they've tried to reach out through their thoughts, only for one of them to be in the middle of bathing or using the bathroom 🤣🫣 And even though they can't see anything through the telepathic connection, it's still awkward lol. It's fun to think about.

If you want to talk about actually walking in on something though, Zelda has probably walked in on Link making out with his pillow (it was unclear if he was conscious while doing this or not lol). And Link has probably walked in on Zelda while she's experiencing beauty issues. I'm talking like popping a zit or managing serious bedhead lol. I don't think ALTTP Zelda gets embarrassed about her affections ever (I interpret her character as the most openly affectionate Zelda hehe), but being seen as unkempt in front of Link? Yeah, that's devastating lol.

She cupped a hand on Legend’s cheek, bringing up one thumb to wipe away a tear he hadn’t realized had fallen. Legend leaned into her touch, feeling lighter than he had in years. Marin continued to rub her thumb across his cheek, but her face fell into a frown as she felt the bags under his eyes.

“You look tired,” Marin said.
