So the MTA is having their summer conference at ye olde alma mater. So I was playfully looking through the workshops like gee whiz wouldn’t it be fun to run around campus again and eat in the dining hall lol. And don’t get me wrong, there’s some good workshops, but I’m like nah no way.

That was yesterday? I believe. Today I got an email saying it would be FREE for me because I’m an ESP. That includes free housing in the dorms and free meals in the dining hall. Id just have to drive there (which I would hate but theoretically could do/ maybe could carpool if someone else was going).

Like there is literally no reason for me to go to this cheesy conference but like I’m sooo tempted

y’all i am currently reliving my appblr days!

i am looking for jobs in the education field right now and i am hoping to send out applications this week to a bunch of elementary schools in my area 

and so i’ve been looking at these lil elementary school websites to learn more about the schools and i feel the same way i did when i was researching colleges

now let me just say when i was researching colleges i had absolutely no idea what i was looking for. big or small? urban or rural? how the hell should i know! not all the same questions this time around (and not even sure which ones to ask), but i’m kinda feeling that again. at least all the elementary schools are adorable, so i guess i can’t go wrong

also similar to my college search, i am getting caught up in the most ridiculous details. like oh my goshhhhh their mascot is a penguin!!!! awwww they have an annual dance party! fun details, sure, but certainly not the details i should be prioritizing LOL

Just thinking how letters of recommendation are kinda wild. A lot of programs want both academic and professional letters of rec.

I was close to my advisors and I technically took classes they taught so I would most likely ask them. However, thinking about the actual professory professor I was closest to? I took 3 courses with a woman who specialized in crime and criminology. The programs I am looking at are for elementary school teaching!!!! BYE

I mean yeah transferable skills yeah academic skills bla bla bla but this still makes me laugh

ughhhhhhhhh there’s a competitive graduate program i want to apply to for the 22-23 school year but i just saw that the college itself posted on their social media accounts like a week or 2 ago that they have a record number of spots open (there are partnerships involved) so they still have spots to fill now!!!! so i’m like !!!!!!!!!!! omg this is a sign that i should just apply now!!!!

lmaoo that’s such a bad idea for so many reasons. i shouldn’t rush an entire grad school application for one, my life’s not in control right now for two, i’ve spent too much time away from my field for three

like i’ve already thought about this, that it would be better for me to go back to work in september for a school year, both to strengthen my application and to strengthen my own mental health/ self esteem and remind me of why i love my field. i mean, i guess it wouldn’t be the end of the world or anything if i skipped over that part LOL but i should put my best foot forward, both in the application sense and just in bettering myself.

i am hoping that if they really do have a ~record number of spots~ that next year when i do apply they will still have many spots??? like assuming they keep the same partnerships kind of a thing

ok never thought i would be posting on this appblr blog about college admissions again and yet
