It was just another lazy afternoon at the hotel, the guys had a day off between shows, and the usual plans: jam sessions, naps, maybe some wandering the city.. somehow fizzled out one by one
Slash was in the corner, tuning his guitar, fingers gliding over strings absently, Duff was on the couch scrolling through a dumb magazine, occasionally letting out a few chuckles, Izzy was half dozing with his head tilted back, and Steven was messing around with a game console, but even he looked bored
Axl? Axl was pacing, bored as usual
Then Duff suddenly flicked on the hotel TV, hunting for something, ANYTHING to kill time
“Anything good?” Slash asked without looking up
“Eh, don’t know. Lets see whats on”
The screen blinked through channels until it stopped on a cartoon show. Cute, colorful, and undeniably pink, the unmistakable bow and whiskers of Hello Kitty filled the screen
“Wait… is this… Hello Kitty?” Duff asked, eyebrows raised
Axl scoffed “You’re kidding, right? Who even watches that?”
Izzy opened one eye “Hey, it’s kinda cute. Look at that little cat”
Steven grinned “Alright, fine. Lets watch it. Could be funny.”
Before long, the whole room was on the floor, sprawled out, faces lit by the pastel glow of the TV
The band that tore up arenas around the world and destroyed hotel rooms was now mesmerized by Hello Kitty and her tiny adventures
Slash muttered, “I never thought I’d say this, but… man, thats kinda relaxing”
Duff laughed. “Man, this beats the usual rock and roll chaos”
Axl rolled his eyes but secretly enjoyed the break from the usual madness. Even Izzy smiled softly as the little cat made friends and solved small, innocent problems
For one perfect hour, GNR wasnt a band on the road, they were just a bunch of guys watching Hello Kitty, letting the world slow down and enjoying a moment of pure simple fun
Less than 4 minutes later
The episode ended and the screen switched to character profiles, cute little sanrio characters with their bright personalities
Steven nudged Duff with a grin. “Okay, so, can we all agree that Cinnamonroll is the best character, right? And no, Izzy, I dont care if you like Keroppi.” Steven turns around to izzy
Izzy just smirked, crossing his arms “Keroppis got attitude. Cant beat a frog who knows what he wants”
Axl rolled his eyes, but there was a hint of amusement. “Youre all crazy. Cinnamorolls too sweet. Im team Badtz Maru. That little penguins got some edge” Axl chuckled
Slash laughed softly, tuning his guitar absentmindedly “I like that Badtz Maru guy too. Bit of a rebel, fits us better”
Duff threw his head back, chuckling “Man, this is the weirdest band debate ever. From Guns n Roses to Hello Kitty character rankings”
Steven smirked, clearly enjoying the chaos lHey, even rock gods need their cinnamonrolls sometimes”
The room filled with easy laughter, a rare moment of carefree fun shared between future legends and cute little cartoon critters alike
After a few seconds steven is playing with some empty beer cans, proudly balancing one on his head again “GUYS!! LOOK! PYRAMID PART TWO!”
Duff didnt even blink, glanced at him and smiled clapping twice “Youre doing amazing, sweetie!”
Steven grinned wider, eyes sparkling with mischief as he lets the can drop back down to his hand “Alright, since we were on the topic, who do you think each of us would be if we were Hello Kitty characters?”
Axl snorted “This is already dumb, but fine, im clearly Badtz-Maru. Tough, sarcastic, a little dark”
Slash nodded slowly “Makes sense. Id probably be… Keroppi. Laid back, cool, always chill”
Izzy raised an eyebrow “You? Keroppi? Youre too intense for a frog”
Slash shrugged “Hey, man, frogs have layers, you know?”
Duff jumped in “Im definitely My Melody! Sweet, but dont push me too far”
Steven pointed at Izzy with a grin. “Youre Chococat!
Izzy chuckled “Meh. I actually do think i would be a black cat if i was an animal…”
“How about Stevie?” Slash asks
“Which one dies first?” Axl asks taking a sip and izzy turns to look at him
“They dont die, man, they just bake apple pies or sum shit”
“I think Steven would be a mix of Kuromi and Cinnamoroll “ Duff says and izzy raises an eyebrow “Kuromi?”
“Yeah, i mean, hear me out here. Steven is friendly and all cutesy and stuff, like cinnamoroll, BUT, Cinnamoroll is too quiet and shy to be Steven. While Kuromi is always up for some mischief, and usually overwhelms Hello Kitty and My Melody a lot. Thats fuckin Stevie, man”
Axl shook his head with a smile. “Only us could go from screaming crowds to debating Hello Kitty cast roles”
Slash strummed a quiet chord. “Maybe thats what keeps us sane”
“Hello kitty?” Duff asks and Slash and Izzy laugh
“Hell,” Steven said “I wouldnt mind a Hello Kitty tour”
“Steven?” Axl asks taking a sip from his soda and steven hums “Shut up.”
