MISSALLANEA & STORIEDHISTORIES private & selective multifandom multimuses featuring MAXIMILIAN CALYPSE & RIFTAN CALYPSE
qrow can sit in quiet. in fact, this often times was preferable to needing to search for words. for a minute, he's not sure whether it's the former or the latter that Yang engages, but he allows that space either way, with his legs kicked up and ankles crossed over the next nearest chair and a drawn out yawn, because Atlas mornings were early, and the headaches haven't quite stopped, and some of their missions bordered on boring. for nearing the end of the world, anyway.
usually it was Ruby curling up by his side, more patient with him and the turmoil which often followed, and perhaps that garnered an uneven amount of qrow's attention in return. but Yang always held tight to her independence and obstinance, and otherwise to Tai. she had enough to deal with and didn't need his issues on top of it.
he does his best not to force his mess of himself onto anyone, least of all the person who'd have every right to be reminded of the mother who left her, when she looks at him.
so he's happy enough just to have her near, for a moment, in silence. but then she speaks, and he can't help but smile back.
"ohhhh, i guess i could make some time," he teases, because though sober, his heart is still learning to express much more than sarcasm, "though, y'know, between th' two'a us somethin' might end up on fire. ...so were y'thinkin' a hangin' out or takin' a ride somewhere?"
She knows he's been dealing with a lot, and she'd tried to give him space. He probably wouldn't have wanted her to try to take care of him, the way she'd done with Ruby and with her dad, after her mom had died. Part of her regrets that she didn't at least try, to see if he'd let her, so he didn't have to go through it on his own, but Yang knows how much it would have hurt if he'd said no. Logically, she knows it would have been because he didn't want her to see him at his worst, that he would have been thinking about her, but she also knows that she probably would have taken it personally, after everything that had happened on the way.
Which was part of the reason she'd been so tentative when she'd approached him. Normally, Yang was all confidence and jokes, letting most things roll off of her without bothering her, but there are definitely times she takes rejection to heart, even if nothing is meant by it. And she's especially afraid of reminding Qrow too much of her mother, of him avoiding her because of that.
But when Qrow says he guesses he could make some time, she can tell he's teasing, and she grins right back at him, leaning over to bump his shoulder with hers. And he's definitely right that something might end up on fire, but that's part of the fun, isn't it?
"It's not quite Bumblebee, but if you're up for letting me drive, there's apparently a really cool place to check out some of the views," Yang suggested. They hadn't had much time off to really check out the scenery, and it might be nice to get out of the city for a little bit.
HIATUS NOTICE -- June 23-July 8(ish)
Similar to Missa's notice, I'll probably be pretty scarce during this time. We're gonna spend some time with friends before we go visit my parents and siblings (for the first time with them calling me Mal and not my legal name, among some other new things, so this'll be interesting), though I might be around in the evenings a little bit before we fly out. Gonna try to get some stuff into the queue, but if that doesn't happen, I'm sorry for keeping everyone waiting instead!
"Kinda fell apart" is putting it lightly, but Qrow doesn't say that out loud. Honestly, Qrow didn't know what he had expected, when he'd told Tai that Summer wasn't coming back. They'd all seen what happened when Raven had left, and she was still alive out there. Summer wasn't.
There was always the chance they could die out in the field but... none of them had ever thought it would be Summer. She was the best and the brightest of them. Qrow was still having trouble wrapping his head around it. How could she be dead but he was still here? It was one of those things that kept him up at night.
"S'alright. That's what friends are for." It isn't alright, not really, but Qrow doesn't know what else to say. At least he's on the mend? At least Qrow came home before it got too bad this time? Qrow shoves those thoughts to the back of his head. They aren't helpful, not right now.
"What do you need, while I'm here?"
Despite Qrow's reassurances, Tai knows it isn't all right. He hadn't been all right for quite some time, he knows, and he needs to make it up to his family. It wasn't as though he was just….better, but it wasn't fair of him to put all of this on himself and Qrow. He was going to have to talk to someone….., but for right now, he needed to take advantage of his ability to function right now, with Qrow's help, and get some things under control.
He took a deep breath, letting it out slowly, one hand releasing his mug to run through his blonde hair. There was so much he needed to do….., but what had to be done, while Qrow was here?
"I think the laundry and groceries are the most important things," he said, shoulders sagging slightly. He should be able to take care of himself, take care of his girls….., but right now, Qrow was here to help. Tai had a hard time asking for help…., but it was easier when it was being offered instead.
He should also clean the house…., but he didn't want to ask Qrow to do that; that was something he would have to deal with.
"I'm sure there are other things, but…., if we can get groceries and finish the laundry, that'll be a big help." He offered Qrow a tired smile, feeling…..okay, for the moment. Tai knew it was because Qrow was here…., but maybe if they offered each other some support…., they could get through this. Together.
Because of his wings, Yuma has to alter all of his clothes. He's gotten pretty good at it at this point, but it's pretty frustrating to have to alter every single top he owns. The easiest way to do it is to make sure the fabric won't fray after cutting holes in it, and then make sure he's able to add velcro or buttons under his arms.
He tried putting a flap in the back, between his wings, but it's a lot harder to reach on his own than putting the fastenings under his arms instead.
I've seen some discourse in a few different places recently, and it's been on my mind a lot. Setting boundaries for yourself is healthy and good, and expressing those boundaries is essential for making sure you have a space that is safe for you. We can't dictate what other people do, but we can express our boundaries in a healthy way. But if your boundaries cross someone else's, you can't expect them to give up their boundaries for you. You have to do some self-policing and look out for yourself, especially on a platform that allows you to block tags you don't want to see.
Asking someone to tag something so you can block it is a healthy way of enforcing your boundaries. Expecting other people to cater to your boundaries on their blog is not.
For example, though I haven't posted a lot on this blog, on one of my old blogs, I had a muse who was very into knives and bl.oodplay. I made sure to tag both of those things because not everyone wants to see that, and I recognized that.
For me, I have that I don't like eye squick in my rules, and I request that people tag images, especially. I have all sorts of synonyms for eye squick listed as tags I don't want to see because that is a way for ME to look out for my own boundaries. I'm not going around to everyone going "You can't write eye squick because it grosses me out," especially when sometimes in a fight-heavy series, people might have injuries to eyes or hands (which is another one of my things, though it's a lot less).
It's honestly kind of the same for s.mut. I am never going to say that everyone has to write smut; not everyone wants to! Some people aren't comfortable, some people have trauma, and some people just flat out don't want to. And any and all of those reasons are perfectly fine, valid reasons! No one has to explain their reason for wanting or not wanting to write something.
I have discovered, though, that writing s.mut has actually been very healing for me. I've been through a lot of different types of traumas, and have felt so ashamed for so long of basically ever even thinking about s.ex, that being comfortable enough to write it has actively been helping me heal some of that trauma. Because that embarrassment and shame followed me everywhere, and allowing myself the permission, the freedom to write characters that are so much more comfortable with themselves has helped me in a way I didn't know was possible.
And maybe this is too much information, but writing is amazing. It can help you heal parts of yourself that you've been struggling with for a really long time, it can help you discover parts of yourself that you didn't know existed or get more in touch with parts of you that you've known for a while. It can help you channel emotions that you have trouble dealing with, help express those emotions and feelings in a healthy way. It can do so much.
So yeah, long story short: look out for your own boundaries, curate your own experiences. And while you should definitely respect other people's boundaries, don't try to force your views onto them. This is a collaborative hobby, and if we all look out for ourselves and offer one another mutual respect and understanding, it'll be even better.
And if you ever need anything of mine tagged, just shoot me a message or an ask, even on anon if you're not comfortable! and I'll make sure to tag that for you. But I'm also going to continue writing the things that I want to in my little corner of this space.

As a Multi-muse blog let me tell you:
If you’ve only played with 1 of my muses in the past, but think you’re limited to just pick one and only one for life, you are WRONG. Dude, play with all of them I don’t care, that’s what AUs are for! Got a single muse blog that you see working with 3+ of mine? GO for it. Blend verses or I’ll make separate ones! Got a multi muse blog too, and want to mix and match? DO IT. Tried one muse of mine and it fizzled between our muses? Let’s try another! I did not make this indulgent blog to waste precious possibilities. LET’S DO IIIIIIIIT.

Grif was instantly fascinated. A good story that came with decent food? Score. "Really? Philosophical cannibalism in the Catholic sense, or something a little less milquetoast?"
"While the Catholic sort of philosophical cannibalism has its time and place, I suppose (I leave that to the actual Catholics), this was more akin to the discussion of 'what makes a man' and involved a hyper-realistic cake, a hyper-realistic cake actually made of meat, and taking notes on how uncomfortable eating each of them made each participant." Most people hadn't minded the cake, but some of them had balked at the 'meat cake,' as he'd just called it, stating that it looked far too much like an actual person to eat.
Grif snorted, "Modern-day Diogenes. I hope you're holding that man because we're getting ready for a cannibalistic barbeque." They could even throw some hot dogs and tacos on the grill.
"Now there's the spirit!" Dr. Weller exclaimed, pleased and amused that someone had indulged his little joke, considering it wasn't that related to anything. "It's been quite some time since I attended an actual barbeque, though not the first that had philosophical cannibalism."
"Behold, a man!" he exclaims, holding out a plucked chicken. It was a featherless biped, after all, and if they're having philosophical discussions about whether or not tacos are hotdogs and hotdogs are sandwiches, it seems apt.

"Look, pal," Qrow said, raising an eyebrow sardonically. "Are you going to take me out to dinner first? While I appreciate cutting through the bullshit to get to the good parts, I do normally want a reason to make someone eat the pavement."
Ah. Apparently you didn't just offer to fistfight strangers without introducing yourself here. Kazu supposes that makes sense, but the amount of fights he'd been in, sometimes it's just fun to throw a few punches without any real high stakes.
Still, he lowers his hands for the moment and inclines his head to the other man, acknowledging his words. "Forgive my lack of manners. I am Kazu. If you are in need of someone to fight, I would like to volunteer." He's gone the other direction to overly formal, he knows, but he's not good with people outside of his team, and this probably isn't going to make him any new friends either.
