Countryhuman biology is not same as human biology in my au. Their organs are made out of their cities (the capital is most often the heart of the country)
all of my countryhumans have no gender because none of them have any genitalia, it is because countries cannot be born like humans, they are created. Most better for them is ti be created by the people that identify as a part if their nation. BUT if a country is by force created by another country (aka puppet state) there could be massive painful side effects, and the country would not be connected to their people in ANY way. (Example: Belarus. There are two of them, Belarus and the Free Belarus. Belarus was made by the soviet union and in turn has low consciousness level, pretty much a plant, while the Free Belarus that was made by the people is the one feeling the suffering of their people)

In order to not have the humsns freaking out if seeing an humanised personification of a country, countries can put on disguises.
For a reader: you see pupils appear on a ch's eyeballs
For the human: they become a random looking human
For other countries: they stay the same, the illusion only works on people
If something is happening in real time within the country, the personification can feel the pain and suffering of their own lands or people, they can in result gain scars, the deeper a scar, the longer it stays and the more impactful it is on the countries history (example: Poland)
Back to the earlier point - since the countries do not have genitalia, they do not feel sexual attraction, they only feel platonic or romantic love (aka asexual) although if a country is cursed or in any way their own being was modified by an unknown force, it can change. (Example: the immortality curse that can change countries eyes under strong negative emotions. For now only Poland and Indonesia have it)
There is also an unknown disease that causes the countries to crumble like porcelain into tiny pieces. The scientists are trying to find out what causes it and what can be the cure but none has been found. Those who had suffered from it, recorded in history are: East Germany, USSR, The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth
Of course there are more but these are the most well known since they crumbled up the most, leaving no trace of anything except clouthes
The disease causes the countryhuman to be unable to bleed
