Do you think Urahara and Tessais childhood personalities mirror that of Ururu and Jintas? Ururu seems a little shy and to herself and Jinta tries to play the tough guy. Urahara seems to have a lot of moments with Ururu and Tessai to Jinta too! ALSO in my head I like to picture that Urahara and Tessai grew up in the maggots nest but I’m also wondering if they were picked up by the Shihoin clan because of their abilities. It seems like the Shihoin clan has a lot of sacred artifacts and I wonder if they were interested in Urahara for being Urahara but also Tessai because he seems to have a history of making things. Klub Outside mentions the Kido corps had their own research and development team, and it seems Tessai and Hachi build Kido products together in the human world. The Shiba clan also has their inventions and I’m sure the four of them (Kukaku included) used the canon to travel to the soul palace and learn from squad zero. But did the noble clans influence Kisuke and Tessai into building or were the noble clans interested in them because they create? I have a lot on my mind lol
You know, your mind has a lot of WORTHWHILE stuff on it, anon.
I've never thought of Ururu and Jinta being coded as next generation Urahara and Tessai, but I see it!
I like the thought that they grew up in the maggot's nest as well. Something they both have is a great proclivity for making it work, no matter the circumstances. They are often shocked at how things go, but never stutter, always swivel. They are running a sweets shop in the human world as though that was always the dream. They can squeeze into any shape. Hide under the shade of any hat. It's one of the reasons their past was such a good reveal; they maintain a good sense of distance from other characters and, therefore, the audience.
And canonically, Senjumaru did lead an independent group of scientists that Kisuke was a part of, so it's not a stretch to say that Tessai was a part of them. And perhaps even Kukaku.
I'm not sure if I buy that they were making it up to Squad Zero, but both Urahara and Tessai definitely did have contact with Squad Zero members.
I definitely think that they were able to skate so freely to the human world and be left undisturbed because Squad Zero found them useful. After all, they are the ones who would be sending any messages to the Central 46 under the guise of being orders from the Soul King.
Despite being "traitors" to Central 46 and the Gotei 13, Squad Zero knew better. As they knew of Aizen at the time and knew what he was up to, but left him alone as well since they deemed him a loser.
HOWEVER back to the beginning, I do think that Ururu and Jinta are a bit reminiscent of them, now that you bring it up, but they're still their own characters and deviate heavily in ways from their sweet shop parents, which is their charm.
It's like Urahara wanted to make kids who got the chance to grow up in a way he wished he and Tessai could have.
(Also honestly Ururu and Jinta have always given me heavy Mayuri and Hiyori vibes. I think Urahara misses that simple time in his life quite a bit and wanted to carry some of it into the future, in his own way).
