The Problem: why are Dan and Rorschach standing in slightly (or more than slightly) different spots in each flashback we have to the crimebusters meeting?

The Solution: it was a continuity error, jackass,!Cut the illustrator a break

The Better (and correct, in my mind) Solution: since it’s three different people recalling the event (Adrian, Jon, and Rorschach), they all recall it slightly differently.

The Most Fun Solution: Jon was teleporting them around the room every few seconds just to piss them off, obviously

Octopus monster does not canonically have a name as far as I am aware, but I would like to propose that Veidt would name it Scylla, as in the mythological Scylla and Charybdis. Because from his point of view, it's that or global thermonuclear war — Scylla ate six of Odysseus's men, but Charybdis would have swallowed the entire ship.
