Thinking about the difference categories of Dragon Type Specialist in Pokemon
There is a common agreement that there are Dragon Tamers vs Dragon Trainers
Dragon Tamers are poised, controlled and although they keep all kinds of ferocious dragon they have steady control over the dragons they train.
They are able to be a Dragon Specialist because they can reign it in when things get too heated.
While Dragon Trainers have far clearer dragon-like traits, they will snarl and claw at the air and mimic the bouncing of their dragons some of them even sport fangs and claws.
They are able to be a Dragon Specialist because they can match their dragons unrelenting energy.
And while yes on the surface but this all makes sense I’d argue most are a mix of the two.
In fact I think Raihan is a perfect mid-ground between Tamer and Dragon, most of the time he is chill and composed. His body language in battle is very laid back, often even posing for his camera mid battle.
It isn’t until he actually feels like its a challenge when he becomes the Dragon Trainer, clawing at the air and roaring alongside his dragons. After his fun though he goes back to his usual self.
Then there are the others who are along the spectrum leaning from Trainer vs Tamer.
Drayton leans more so to the Trainer side for me because although he doesnt claw or bounce or even roar he still has a lazy dragon attitude but specifically a lazy smart one.
He simply sets up the scene and lets it all play out in his favor, lounging around much like a dragon whose confident that even if they “lost” the battle it was all for a end goal.
And even characters like Hassel who on the surface dont really have mannerisms that scream dragon still have certain traits that betray them. In Hassel’s case his eyes, especially in battle, resembles dragons.
All this to say Dragon Type Specialist are so so strange (affectionate) in how MUCH the embody their type and here is my chart of Dragon Type Specialist
