I think megumi having scars that match sukuna’s face in his true form is something so beautiful.

Sukuna not only left his mark of megumi emotionally, but physically as well. Those are forever, sukuna will always be with megumi forever. Doesn’t matter if he’s alive or dead.

In the end sukuna got what he wanted in a way, he claimed megumi. No one will be able to look at megumi without flinching, they have to notice that the scars look like sukuna but are trying to spare megumi the damage by mentioning it.

Megumi himself has to see it in the mirror, he probably avoids looking at himself as much as possible because he can still feel sukuna crawling under his skin. He can hear sukuna’s laughter, his voice. They have been intertwined since yuuji ran past megumi, since both sukuna and megumi laid eyes on each other.

Megumi himself never appreciated how remarkable he is, I don’t feel like anyone else truly noted megumi’s powers as much as sukuna did either. All of megumi’s feats, of him jumping over hurdles was because he recalled sukuna’s words. He recalled all the times sukuna mentioned wasted potential, and whether or not he wants to acknowledge it, megumi was motivated and pushed by sukuna.

Pushing himself into the monsters arms by impressing him so much. I think it’s wonderful how connected they are, how motivated by each other they are in some way. Megumi will always have the marks to remind him of it, and that’s the most poetic thing to me.
