Health
Taken for granted so often, we neglect our health in our day to day lives, never knowing when it’ll be compromised. I remember the hospital visit like it was yesterday, thinking to myself, “how the hell did I end up in here?! I’m only 22!”. I remember feeling so helpless, as if I had no control over my life anymore, when really I had just only lost control over my physical health. I still had control over my mental health, my happiness, and my faith.
Another flare survived and I somehow felt those same vulnerabilities, even though I knew I could recover. Last time I chose to wallow and throw myself a pity party. Last time, I handled the situation by counting my misfortunes instead of my blessings. This time, I was showered with so much more support, I can’t help but be optimistic. Reading all the horror stories of other UC survivors, I can’t complain at all. I’ve somehow managed to stay in remission for three years with just one biologic.
This time, I’m gonna count my blessings, take my time to heal, and include my loved ones in the journey. With time, heals wound. With faith, strength is found.
