Psychic, Table for 1

I’ve had this feeling in the pit of my stomach for the last 24 hours. I couldn’t put my finger on the source - but I suspected just general post-holiday blues. My dreams last night though were more ominous than that. Thoughts that kept popping into my head today during unrelated things all pointed elsewhere. I finally acquiesced tonight and did a quick google search and there it was.

I won’t get into specifics - I’ll just say that I have dreamed, vividly, of this particular reality more than a dozen times. Seen, felt, smelled, heard - vivid. Of course, for most of those times, my interpretation was off, significantly off, exactly half off. But that makes sense. I saw what I wanted to see, not what was real.

I want to be happy. I want to be happy without all the things I wanted, all the things promised. I’m trying. I’m not sure yet if this makes it easier or harder. But I’m trying.

I was distractedly editing photos and soon realized I had inadvertently created this gem. Which is both super weird and also a super accurate depiction of how I’m feeling tonight. My daughter and I saw Bohemian Rhapsody today, and we can argue about the merits of the film later. What hit me hardest was the predicament of Mary - how cruel and unfair to be the prop in someone else’s story. Yes, I’m reading my own stuff into it, I know. But that line - the one about sheer fatigue and frustration of always being the object of “I love you but...” - it’s playing on a loop in my head.

I’ve been testing out a few 100% compostable k-cups. To be honest - the coffee all tastes about the same to me. But these guys win hands down for being the cutest.

Interesting. I hadn’t heard the song so I researched a bit: “The track itself was a reaction to a drunk text and phone-call from an ex. It was an opportunity for Baker to write from the perspective as something other than the victim, something we so commonly find in love songs. ‘The song is called Rupi Kaur because the girl was the type to post Rupi quotes on Instagram.’”
