I love therapy so much. I have a great therapist. I get to vent about everything and she’s on my side and also pushes me when I need it.

I originally told my husband I did want to see The Odyssey in theaters. But now that we are actually trying to make time to go….why does it have to be so long? Between driving to the imax theater, previews, and driving back. It will be half the day!
Made the most of my one beach day for the week. Got there early. Tide was going out. Hunted for seashells. Got in the water a couple times. After daycare, went back with B and Grandma and played in the little tidal stream.
The rest of the week is rainy and cool so I’m going to catch up on Heated Rivalry and Gilded Age and knit.
i saw this somewhere else but reply / tag what you did today so everyone can see that we all did something different today
I have next week off and it’s going to be rainy and cold for most of it. So much for my plans to lounge by the beach.

My husband and I had a parenting disagreement that comes down to him fundamentally not understanding what a boundary is. I have been ruminating on it since Saturday and have decided that I am in the right. I had originally thought to come to my tumblr friends and present the situation in a fair minded way but the more I sat with it the more I, like Principal Skinner, realized I was not out of touch. He was wrong.
B has been a bit of a homebody lately. We aren’t doing any weekend classes this summer. So Saturday morning, we loaded B and his stroller in the car to go to the big zoo since it was a gorgeous day to be outside. B seemed excited enough but when we got to the zoo, he immediately asked to go home.
We tried talking him into getting out of the car but he was adamant. And I was fine to leave it at that. We have a zoo membership. We didn’t have any other real plans that day. So what if he wanted to go home. My husband was of the opinion that we needed to make him go into the zoo to hold a boundary. And I was like no, he has to do things like go to school and the doctor. He doesn’t have to go to the zoo.
My husband reluctantly acquiesced and spent the whole drive home sighing loudly. When we had a chance to talk about it again, he still felt he was doing the right thing. I explained my view being that 5 days a week B has to do what the grown ups at home and at school say and those are actual boundaries being enforced.
I’m thinking of this again because my husband got called into work tonight so we had a chill evening. We finished dinner early and B asked to go outside. So me and my mom, both braless and in comfy clothes, and B in a half buttoned shirt, diaper and sneakers with no socks played outside for an hour before doing bath, stories and bed. And if my husband had been home he would have said no, you can’t go outside on this glorious summer evening and enjoy that last of the sun before getting to bed at the usual time.
I’m really proud of how good I’m doing at my new job. A part of me was worried I was a total fraud and my mentor didn’t know what he was talking about by believing in me.
I’m listening to the audiobook of The Wager and it’s all I can do not to read the Wikipedia.
