If you have a vehicle obsessed child in your life or you yourself enjoy a good bop, get yourself to the Twenty Trucks YouTube.
Videos of different trucks set to songs that have no right to be as catchy as they are.
My favorites are the Duck Boat, Bucket Truck and Car Carrier.
What's a book written by a woman that changed your life or that you consider a classic? Any genre, any language.
wait now i’m curious what’s everyone’s go-to pair of shoes
B got his first set of stitches Thursday night. We have an old French door to the mud room. He pushed it closed and his hand went through a pane of glass. I was driving home when it happened. My poor husband was hysterical. B had a couple scrapes and one deep cut on his wrist. Thankfully it missed anything vital. He was trooper through the whole thing. Thankfully he seems to be healing quickly. His stitches come out next Monday.

From what our speech therapists have said, B is a gestalt language learner. He will memorize a phrase and learn how to use it in a bunch of different contexts. So every time he says something novel, I am delighted.
One of his favorite books lately is Rich Cat Poor Cat, a favorite of mine from childhood. It details the trials of Scat the street cat compared to the cushy life of indoor cats. We have adopted a new vocal stim from the book:
“Some cats are given a daily dose of vitamins to give them extra energy and protect them from the virus. There are days Scat could do with a bit of extra energy.”
The other day I was taking my pills and we had the following exchange:
B: what you doing?
Me: taking my medicine
B: you sick?
Me: no, I’m not sick. These are more like vitamins
B: you not a cat

The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.
Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.
So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.
Bears. They’re everywhere. Be wary. Anyone or anything could be a bear.
oh shit
As the OP of this post, I’m going to threaten that if this gets to one million notes by the 10 year anniversary on 1 June 2026, one year from today, I will get a lower back tattoo of the loch ness bear monster.

Ugh I had a tick in my hair this morning! It was on the back of my neck. Something made me go to scratch and I pulled it off 🤢. It was definitely stuck to me but it came away pretty easily. I took a shower and I still feel like I want to boil myself in bleach. Going to call my doctor on Monday.
My new employer has a commuter benefit program where we can use pre-tax dollars to pay public transit and related parking costs. I was under the impression this would be available on my flexible spending card. But no. They have sent me a check made out to the MBTA. So I cannot cash it. I stopped at the ticket booth and they cannot transfer money to the parking system. And after I made my selections for June and the deadline for changes had passed, they announced a promotion for discounted monthly passes so I have more money than I actually need for the month. I tried calling the benefit provider but they weren’t helpful and the benefits person at work had no idea what to do either. Going to call the provider again and see if I can get the money moved to my card.
After many phone calls to the benefit company and the MBTA, I ended up with one monthly pass for June, 18 one way tickets I have 3 months to use and $2 on a Charlie card.
I cancelled my July order for a pass and figured out how to select the commuter card option so I can back a 5 pack of round trip tickets. Then I think I’ll take the last week on July off. I’ll have been at the new job 3 months at that point. I’ll need a break.
