it’s fucking wild because one day you’re like i guess i’m not dying tragically young and you go to the store and you buy dental floss, ingredients for soup, and a bath mat
life really is just like. you meet people you love them and then you lose them and you never see them again. and it's inevitable and it happens to everyone and there's nothing you can do about it
richard siken quote. you know the one
I've been to quite a few funerals of people who were loved. Deeply. But this is the first one that felt like it was a funeral of someone who was loved and known. May her name be said with reverence for long after the end is.
There's a lot of love in someone understanding your mistakes after you make them and not hating you for it. Of someone accepting your faults. And not holding it against you when those faults have you fuck up. Because they love you. And they understand why you do the things you do.
And the funny thing is
That for the first time in my life
I could see the path spread out before me
A future I could finally dream
A place I wanted to be
Finally
I wasn't waiting for it all to stop
Or waiting for the last shoe to drop
And that's when
You took a step back
And I'll never forgive you for that.
bitch this is all you’re gonna get. this life, this face, this body. you better not ‘maybe in another universe’ your way out of everything. sit your ass down and face this. go make tea and have a picnic and read a goddamn book. kiss your loved ones, send that damn text, and hug your siblings. this is all you’re gonna get.
If I could go back in time and tell my younger self one sentance. It would just be "the list of people who are still your friends in two decades includes....." and then just list everyone whose still around. It would save me so much pointless grief. And maybe I wouldn't have felt so alone all the time. Would have stopped trying to find my place among the wrong people. Not bad people. Just people who wouldn't hold the metaphorical hand back. Who would drift away and not care about it. Who I would grieve before they left and then again after.
What's left once the pain is gone?
What if it made me better?
It certainly gives me a reason to be worse
What excuse do I have without it
For all of these flaws?
What if they're all that's left?
Once the pain is gone
Who am I without it?
What if this finally fixes me?
What if it makes me better?
Isnt that a good thing?
I guess it is
For that person
It's always good to improve!
But if it's true
Then the person I've always been
Who I am now
Is worse
And that hurts
I'm sorry our family let you down
I'm sorry that I was the only one around
Who listened
Who didn't keep their distance
All that I have are these ears
And these eyes
And holding your hand
As you slowly die
You deserved better
Than me in this spot
Im sorry that I am
The comfort you got
But I promise I listened
Your last breathe had a witness
What's left once the pain is gone?
What if it made me better?
It certainly gives me a reason to be worse
What excuse do I have without it
For all of these flaws?
What if they're all that's left?
Once the pain is gone
Who am I without it?
Reminder to myself that you're supposed to /enjoy/ your hobbies. You're meant to do things because you enjoy doing them. Not to say you did them. Not to fill some role in a play. You're meant to enjoy the action. Not how it looks to others. The point of your life is not the optics of it. Stop constantly performing for an imaginary audience. You're alone in yourself. And that's a good thing
it’s awesome how we have unlimited chances to become a better version of ourselves

girls when they're addicted to loneliness and desperation it's the strongest emotion they have ever known so their subconscious tells them it's their destiny
it’s literally insane
"What do you do when they kill everything you believe in?
You lean in.
What do you do when they kill everything you believe in?
Give it meanin'!
What do you do when they kill everything you believe in?
You grieve and you keep breathin'
You keep believin'!"
- The Warriors Musical, "Still Breathing"
Violence is never the answer? Never? /Never?/
You ever rooted for the main character in an action movie? Ever cheered them on in the fight? Then you're a hypocrite.
Now. There's many other options before violence. And it's morally shit to choose violence when there's better options. I'll agree with you there.
But, girl. What if someone punches you in the face? What's your answer? Is it. By chance. To punch them back? Y'know... violence?
Violence is never the /first/ answer. Except in response to violence.
In my experience, people often hold on tighter for a moment, before they let you go.
It makes every upward swell of emotion feel ominous, a threat that feels like belonging. I am always wary of the sudden drop that's coming after. And it so often does.
Why can we never just let things go easy? Why is there always a part of us that has to give it one last try? One last hurrah? Fading gradually would be easier. A fitting end. A slow decay to nothing. A smooth curve on the graph of life that makes sense. That can be calculated.
But we are desperate, lonely creatures, and every hand pulled away has to give one last squeeze of reassurance. Of betrayal. A heartbeat.
The proof that we could have been something. That the love was there. And it could have lived forever. The possiblity of all we could have been.
A vow of companionship made right before we break it,
And we let each other go forever
