a comic about printers
I remember seeing a post a couple months back of someone talking about printer troubles and companies making them bad deliberately, like pointlessly different screw sizes and a lying no-usb-compatibility sticker
If someone knows it please tell me, I'm pretty sure I remember it had good resources on a youtube channel that teaches you how to fix stuff!
"This is Marshal Hercules Hansen. The Breach is sealed. Stop the clock!"
@salvaation: #IT'S NOT TODAY AND I'M GONNA DIE ON THIS HILL#5 years 4 months from February 29 2020 is not January it would be June or July.#almost every outdoor scene it's raining and January is the driest month of the year for Hong Kong but the monsoon is May-September#for arguments sake let's say Raleigh was talking about when he officially left 6 months later. that could put things in January#/of 2026/
Good catch! It is indeed impossible to square Knifehead breaching in 2020 with Raleigh saying he last saw Stacker five years and four months ago if the film ends on 1/12/25. I can explain where that date came from, at least.
Alex Irvine's Pacific Rim novelization is one of the few sources to give exact dates for when the events of the story take place. Knifehead breaches on February 29, 2020 (pg. 43), Otachi and Leatherback breach on January 8, 2025 (pg. 329), and the war ends on January 12, 2025 (ibid.). Unfortunately, Irvine retained the "five years, four months" line, creating a contradiction. When Warner Bros. launched a (now barely-preserved) website to promote the film's home video releases, they also gave Leatherback a 1/8/25 breach date. Probably they used other novelization dates too, but no one seems to have saved those pages. So now there's a contradiction in the movie universe.
Armed with all of this information, I would definitely side with what's in the movie, and I'll gladly run with the justification to keep up the Jaegerposting into next year. :D
being obsessed with a character is so fucking embarrassing like I'll be getting dressed in the morning like "I bet the 12th doctor would wear these socks" bitch shut the fuck up

Roz sketch I did during my flight yesterday â¨
wikipedia said we know why you're here, let's skip to the important part
đŁď¸ WE'RE WAITING EVERY NIGHT TO FINALLY ROAM AND INVITE
This explains a lot about my lack of asking for help when I clearly need it
Don't forget the fact that asking for help carries the risk of someone expressing mild disappointment in your inabilities, which will cause you to shut down for 5 to 7 working days.
I can objectively confirm "Do you want this done or not" will not make the situation better, but at least you can make them angry
"Why didn't you ask for help?" has been asked to me so many times. I don't know how to explain to these people that
1. I didn't recognize that it was reasonable to ask for help at the time.
2. I felt like I should be able to do it by myself.
3. I didn't know who to ask and what to ask.
4. I don't want to sound like I'm complaining about the thing.
5. The risk of being met with criticism or disdain feels far larger than it logically is.
6. In the scenario that I am met with criticism or disdain when asking for help, it makes me wish I literally set the problem on fire instead of asking for help.
since moving here ive noticed europeans have no concept of how few americans ever leave USA. every american tourist youve met is of an economic crust that is vastly unobtainable to the other like. 85% generously. no matter what you have believed i can guarantee this. even getting to canada isnt really a possibility and the mexico-US border is highly controlled and militarized.
to put it into perspective. a ~2 hour flight from london to warsaw is like. 30 to 45 USD?
and a 2 hour flight from one US city to another would be about 130 USD
it was very cheap to fly here. i make over 100k USD now and i dont know if ill ever be able to afford leaving. if that gives you an idea of how prohibitive travel is here. i havent even touched on how the US has Zero guaranteed holidays by the govt. many people here go years without ever having an entire week off of work
this has had a like. massive impact on American Brain and they dont even know it because travel isnt even a consideration economically. they dont even know how much more vacation time european countries have guaranteed
london to warsaw - which is what they specified - literally is ÂŁ20. flights from london to poland have always been cheap
ÂŁ20 is actually $22 so really $45 is overestimating
#this also means all the entitled tourists you hear horror stories about are the worst sort of usamericans there are#the wealthy ones

Too good of a point to leave in the tags.
HI WHAT THE FUCK. I thought all those European college age kids being like 'I'm going to see some countries' were just All Rich you're telling me they can travel from one country to another for the price of dinner at a restaurant?????
As an American whoâs lived and worked in Europe for almost a decade now, I can confirm all of this. Traveling between countries in Europe is as easy as traveling between states in the US, except that the train and rail systems are even cheaper here.
The vacation thing also deserves to be repeated. Most jobs out here give more vacation days than their US counterparts. Itâs built into their economies â a lot of European countries just take it as granted that everyone is going to be vacationing somewhere for a few weeks in summer. Hell, Swedish law mandates that every job gives a minimum of 25 days of paid vacation a year, with the expectation that you take at least 15 days off during the summer months.
All that on top of the fact that governments require jobs provide a certain minimum of paid sick leave â so youâre not using vacation days to recover from the flu or whatever. This is one of the reasons European countries handled COVID better than the US, because people could afford to stay home when they were sick. Although the public health care also helped.
When I first came out here for work, all of this was shocking and alien to me. I kept thinking it was a trick. Now, I donât think I could ever go back to the way things are in the âStates.
Yeah, ever setting foot in another country is something most Americans think of as a fantastical daydream for if they ever get rich. I know a fair number of people who have but they all really saved up for it as a once in a lifetime sort of event.
I'm lucky if I can afford to visit my mother once a year or so at the opposite end of my own country. It costs several hundred dollars every time.
If we wanted to fly to just the next state over it'd be at least a hundred too, if we book months ahead. But due to the sheer size of America, the gas to drive there would be almost as bad.

oh this is a life saver
So these are both âAw Fuck Iâm outta real foodâ meals BUT ALSO: if youâre learning how to cook, these are great âbaby stepsâ meals to learn how to cook basics into something enjoyable without âwastingâ anything expensive. Though I maintain that even cooking screw-ups are valuable in terms of lessons learned.
Also theyâre great for when you get absorbed in something and you realize your blood sugar is dropping and you need to make something Quick.
Making basic storecupboard or fridge ingredients less basic and more nutritious.
This is wonderful.
