nina (dalayrac): a theory.
so my forever wish for mike wheeler, who has been my favorite character since season 1, was to have him finally play a bigger role again.
he’s been kind of stuck playing a comedy relief. there are no real storylines for him besides being el’s love interest, with an occasional clever thought.
and even though there’s been some weird mike slander going around (gaslighting??), I still think they managed to keep him a believably good person. a paladin if you will.
which is why i really wanted mike to face real danger in season 4.
what better way for el finally get her powers back, than watching her first love almost die? now of course, i don’t want him to really die. but i always thought, that the next death scare (el in season 1, hopper in season 3) should be mike.
after watching season 4 in its half-finished entirety, i had to keep myself from feeling disappointed. so much screen time, movie length episodes!, and still mike comes short, short enough to get completely misunderstood by people who want to.
but, here comes the but!: NINA.
brenner and his lovely little story of naming his project.
anyone remember? the opera by dalayrac. i had to look it up on wikipedia.
Nina is in love with Germeuil but her father, Count Lindoro, favours another suitor. Germeuil and his rival fight a duel. Nina believes that Germeuil has been killed and goes mad, forgetting aspects of the traumatic incident in a manner consistent with a diagnosis of psychogenic amnesia.[11] She only regains her reason when Germeuil reappears unharmed and her father finally allows him to marry her.
well. now. mike is already on his way to warn el of the bad people.
we don’t know if el’s powers are fully back after regaining her memories. but she will have to face vecna in the last two episodes.
better have a big fucking moment to trigger them into functioning.
