Velvet: “Die.”
Eleanor: No.

Velvet glances over from her chosen seat on the edge of the ship. Sparring here? On the deck? So long as the waters were fairly calm and the rest of the crew didn’t mind, she had nothing against doing so. That didn’t stop Rokurou after all.
“That’s not a bad idea at all.” and there was a small smile. She didn’t like remaining in her thoughts for too long and sitting around here like this only made her restless. Eleanor didn’t need to justify her reasons for asking, she would have likely accepted it regardless.
Moving off of the place she had perched on, she walked towards the other. “But let’s not get too carried away. If we scratch up the ship, I’ll never hear the end of it from Eizen and the others.” and Velvet would rather not have to deal with that.
“Of course! You wouldn’t be taking the brunt of that alone, you know.” She beams in turn, quite pleased that Velvet accepted the offer.
“I even had a spot in mind already…”
She directs the other to the stern of the ship. Sure enough there was an area less tread from Aifread’s crew. Eleanor deemed the space appropriate for them both, especially to accommodate her lancework and Velvet’s rather unique fighting style.
--And perhaps this has also been because she had actually seen Rokurou train in this exact spot.
“What do you think?” She was rather confident that there'd be no issue, but the other party deserves a say as well!
@break-soul
"Velvet would you...like to spar with me?”
She holds her breath for a bit after asking the question. It felt a tad weird to ask given that the only instances of them fighting had been on less....friendlier terms comparatively. With a gentle exhale, she continues:
“I...just figure that it’s such a long voyage and all this inactivity at sea would be bad for our bodies. It seems there’s plenty of space on the main deck of the Van Eltia that we wouldn’t be in the way...” (Rokurou was plenty testament to that!)

Ryan just shakes his head. “ Not your call, Eleanor. I have orders from Aizen, yeah? If you have an issue with, take it up with him. Otherwise? Step aside.” The young man would say. He would usually tolerate this, but with his mission on the line? It wasn’t happening today.
“I don’t care who gave the order.”
Eleanor remains steady, polearm at the ready to block the other’s path. Eizen would be severely cross with her for being so defiant, but she was doing what she felt was right.
“No one will benefit from this decision--we should think of another way. I...I’ll fight you if I must but--” She would rather not hurt a comrade if she could help it... Ryan could be the first step in just standing down.
“No. I won’t let you do that.”

It was weird, but… their words were sincere. Jude shouldn’t trust them on words alone, especially considering what had happened, but if this was all fake? She was either an amazing actor or… she was for real. Honestly? The malak was starting to feel a little bad for judging her so harshly– an apparent ex-exorcist so harshly. If they were indeed genuine? Then perhaps they regretted their actions? They mentioned the left the abbey before it collapsed…
Then she went so far as to say he can continue to feel that way, and that she expected no malak to ever trust her. Was she… wearing that uniform on purpose to get such treatment because she used to be a part of the abbey? She wanted this? That was crazy!! And… really sad. Jude had fallen for it now. He felt really bad about what he had just done, and he felt really sorry for her too.
“W-Wait!” as the wind malak windstepped to appear in front of the exorcist and put his hands out. “I… I was lying.” Jude admitted. “Even if you were an exorcist, I… couldn’t hurt you.” he probably shouldn’t have said that, but he didn’t like to lie and… where was he even going with this? “I shouldn’t trust you… but I don’t think you are lying, and I feel bad for saying all of those things…” so he lastly said, keeping it simple. “I’m… sorry.”
Eleanor feels the rush of wind from behind and the malak suddenly appears in front of her?! She stifles her surprise, covering her mouth with a hand. Who knew that a malak could possess such speed? She could consider herself lucky that he had just admitted to not having any intention of harming her. Otherwise this might have turned out differently...
“It's...It’s alright.” She offers a smile. “Like I said I certainly can’t blame you for feeling how you do.” All she could hope for is that it would never happen again. No more radical Shepherds or ‘Melchior’s trying to control everyone’s lives. That was why she was doing what she could.
“If it’s all the same to you, I wouldn’t mind starting over. My name is Eleanor Hume and I’m sorry for running into you.”

Eyes widening on the necklace displayed to him a smile soon shown on the daemon’s face.
Examining it closer he soon turned to look to Eleanor. “It’s really pretty! You did a good job on it Eleanor.” Looking back to the necklace the stared to the shell then to the beads once more. It made him think on an ocean…
“Thank you!” She smiles warmly, glad that her ‘mentor’ approves. “I feel like I’m really getting the hang of this..”
“Would you like to keep it? I surely don’t mind if you do!” Of course she was considering making plenty more for the others...

“I was saying that it seems the monsters have been causing trouble for merchants along the southern roads as of late,” Richard repeats, a curious glance towards the one beside him. “Its been causing the prices of even basic commodities to grow difficult for people to afford.”
He pauses a moment.
“Are you feeling alright? If the heat is too much we can always rest for a short while.”
“Ah-- N-No I’m alright. If what you say is true, I wouldn’t want to delay us any further.” She wouldn’t want to risk the situation escalating beyond their control.
“I suppose a full patrol of the roads are in order. I’d like to return them to a safe and stable state for the merchants before seeking out a possible source for the disruption.”
@the-king-of-the-wind
She hadn’t been listening, much too captivated by the sights before her. Realizing this, there’s a slight shake of her head and Eleanor’s attention was refocused towards the other.
“F-Forgive me, Could you repeat that?”
@sirenssonnet
Oh no. She went and grabbed the wrong drink. It was an honest mistake--but she wasn’t expecting to be hanging over the railing from it.
The drink almost reminded her of that. Perhaps that explained her reaction...
@timidplum
She quietly sneaks up behind him and drapes a necklace around his neck. A shell serves as its center piece while being surrounded by aqua-colored beads. Eleanor giggles, quite pleased with herself.
“Well? What do you think?”

“Suitable.” Velvet gave a straight faced answer, calming from her rage something about watching the other lose it was like some form of catharsis was this the effect of her malevolence on a normal human? or was that just how the other could operate. “Clean yourself up.”
Tossing a rag from the side pouch that she had on her towards the redhead velvet continued moving on, there was more power in that single strike than she’d seen Eleanor ever do. Even when the two of them fought there had been wavering on the exorcist’s part. “I want to hear your judgement of the abbey now that you’ve seen first hand how far your Shepherd will go for his peace, after all they turned a child into a therion and got her mother killed as a result.”
“...”
She doesn’t answer at first, continuing to dab at the blood from her clothing. There’s no logic or reason behind such actions. Guilt still eats at her from lying to Kamoana about her mother.
“There is...something wrong with it all. That I can’t deny.” She knows in her heart that it’s all wrong... Was she afraid of facing such a horrible truth?
thericn
“You’ve been tethered for months with Laphi, this isn’t just a getting used to situation.” She approached the other amber eyes staring the redhead down with a predatory gaze. “You want to kill me right? In your current state you couldn’t even kill a simple rat, I don’t care what it is that’s shaken your resolve..fix it.” The situation with kamoana probably shook up the whole crew; velvet was still feeling the effects of it from herself, hence the heightened hostility.
Pointing at a lone sea star hellion, with her wrapped hand velvet spoke out. “Pretend it has the face of the one you hate the most, show me that resolve of yours or I will leave you sitting here.”
She saw right through her.
Velvet’s glare could barely be met with her own, leaving Eleanor to fidget with her spear. Damnit. Was she really that weak compared to her? The pressure she felt is relieved as she follows where Velvet points, her grip tightening. There was little room to argue against the other at this point.
“Very well.” Eleanor was bound by oath after all, even if it was self imposed. She would honor it.
Truthfully Velvet wasn’t even on the top of her own list of daemons to kill. Her grudge against the monsters had started long ago when she was just a girl. It wasn’t hard to relive that moment.
The sneering face of that daemon...
Her mother’s dying words...
It felt as if her body moved on her own. The unsuspecting sea star daemon was flung into the air by the flat end of her spear. A squeal of surprise was cut short as Eleanor drives her spear through its flesh before it even hit the ground. It was a bit of a mess with blood splattered about her uniform.
Panting, Eleanor plunged her spear into the sand.
“How is that for my resolve?”
@unum-lucet
“you’re still hesitant in your lance play, even when fighting hellions, what happened to that resolve when we first clashed eleanor? Did you happen to lose it.” the therion clicked her tongue in annoyance, after all if the exorcist then laphicet was at risk and she’d lose an integral game piece. “listen, if you plan to stand with us or against us you cannot shake like a newborn pup that will get you killed right off.”
She hadn’t realized her uncertainty had been reflected in her spear work. For one who had followed the Abbey for such a long time, it was...difficult to stomach what they were uncovering.
And to involve an innocent child like Kamoana... Where should she stand in all this...?
“Don’t waste your energy concerning yourself over me. I am just...still unused to being tethered with a malak like Laphicet is all.” Gods she was a horrible liar. “Once I have this under control, I assure you my spear will waver no longer.”
