Just finished rewatching Volume 1 of RWBY and I forgot how much truly nothing happens in the entire first volume lol. 0 plot movement. They go to two entire classes. We get our main characters names and set up teams. We know three people's semblances. Found out Blake is a Faunus in the last episode. That's it. That's the whole first volume.
