something about driver’s identity, down to his very name, being entirely dependent on his use to other people. to everyone in his life, he’s just that guy who drives. but around Irene and Benecio he has this idea that he could be more than that. he could be the guy who protects. the guy who cares. the guy who provides. and then in the end, to Irene, he’s none of those things. he’s the guy who smashed someone’s head in, never mind why. he’s reduced just to the violence that lives inside him that he can’t seem to escape from.

How about a Grace & Carl on-the-run AU?! During those three hours Stratt gives Grace to “think about it,” Carl just snatches him and gets him off the base on a journey to a hideout because Carl is exactly the kind of professional badass who could pull off a one-man covert operation like that and get his lover out of the line of fire. He’d already have an elaborate plan prepared because he saw it coming from a mile away.

I hate that this would mean Grace would never meet Rocky, but I just want one universe where Ryland and Carl get to eat Sour Skittles and Twizzlers and jump each other’s bones happily ever after.

i don't know if this has been brought up before, but I can't stop thinking about yao and ilyukhina. about how they sacrificed their lives believing they were going to do it for the good of humanity. did what grace couldn't do at first, and volunteered for a suicide mission. said goodbye to every place and person that was in those photographs, all for the hope of having a hand in saving them all. and they didn't get to do it. they didn't get to do any of it, and they died young anyway.

i wonder if earth ever figured it out. i wonder if they hailed all three of them as heroes, without knowing they unwittingly killed two of them before they even had a chance to see the stars. i wonder if they named any of those stars after them, without realising that somewhere out there, their light still reflects off of ilyukhina's hair, motionless and floating forever, a sleeping ghost in the void of what could've been.
