when people say "mental illness doesn't make you do [thing]" or "mental illness isn't an excuse to do [thing]" they're forgetting disorders outside depression and anxiety exist.

yes, sometimes my disorders actually do make me do things. that doesn't mean I get to avoid accountability, but when I have a delusion that someone poisoned my food I am going to act the way anyone would if they found out someone poisoned their food!!! because I can't tell that it's a delusion, to me my food really has been poisoned!!!!! and I'll apologize afterwards but my disorder actually did make me do that. I can't just tell my psychosis "can you pretty please not make me act irrationally today"
