Garrus Vakarian, Archangel, bad boy turian, big cheese ball DLC
“I lay on the bed and lost myself in stories. I liked that. Books were safer than other people anyways.” - Neil Gaiman
There are very few things one can say in fandom that seems to give people more permission to pounce upon you like a league of hissing snakes than saying “I unironically love Anora Mac Tir.”
And I do. She’s amazing. She’s ruthless and brilliant and completely unashamed to say so. I love her.
I actually like Anora quite a lot. I think she is an incredible woman with a lot of potential. Yet, I put Alistair and my Warden (Maise) on the Throne. Why? Three main reasons; a moral, a political, and a selfish.
On the moral end, her actions, or rather lack of action, regarding the Alienage is inexcusable. She makes several lofty claims about how much she cares for her people, and while I believe that (or at the very least, I believe that she believes that), she makes a lot of excuses regarding the Alienage. Especially for someone who supposedly held the real power of the Ferelden Throne. Slavery right under her nose, noblemen kidnapping women from A WEDDING and raping them? How could she not know? The slave trade wasn’t exactly kept very quiet, if the Warden could just blunder into the middle of it, and the wedding was in broad daylight. So either she was oblivious to what was happening in her city, which I cannot believe, considering how fiercely intelligent she is; or she turned a blind eye towards it. Maybe she felt ignoring it was justified, like, there are more important things to deal with? Possibly. But that action is not one I can support.
Now, politics. Think about the landsmeet from a political sense. Which sounds like a candidate that the nobility would support:
1) A woman who is fiercely intelligent, politically talented, and charming; but with no noble line to speak of, and a father who many see as a power-hungry traitor.
Or
2) A duo of the last member of the current royal line (a proven warrior of a known organization), and another woman who is intellegent, politically talented, and charming (I max out persuasion before anything else); but is also a proven warrior WITH the right last name (Cousland) of the second most powerful family in Ferelden.
Call me biased, but if I was a a noble, I’d go with option 2.
Now, for the selfish reason you’re all expecting: yes, I love Alistair. I want the fairytale ending, I want the flowers and rainbows and mabari puppies. I DON’T want to have to choose between him and Hawke in Inquisiton. And I don’t feel that this is an invalid reason. It’s MY game, and I will make the choices that please ME, not what others believe is “more interesting”.
Do I think that Anora should be burnt at the stake? HELL NO. She’s an amazing woman, and in fact, I hope that she is put into a position of power so that she can use her gifts to help her country (and actually get credit for it). Maybe an ambassador or advisor? Maybe she could still inherit her father’s Terynir? Who knows? But I, personally, cannot and will not make her queen.
Good job proving OP’s point. Next time just make your own post yeah?
Did you actually read my post, or did you just see “I made Alistair king” and stop there?
“ I actually like Anora quite a lot. “ was enough for me to know not to read any further, especially on a post about how much OP enjoys Anora. Once again, you’ve proven the point they made, so here’s your gold star. Now go away.
@moonlightbrunette I don’t get what @herhighness-thequeenofhearts said that was so bad tho? She (? I’m assuming you’re a girl, Queen, sorry if I’m wrong) was literally just explaining why she made Alistair king even though she liked Anora. Cause there are a lot of people who equate not making Anora the sole ruler with hating her. I made Anora Queen cause she said she had been doing it and I figure she’s doing a good job when you see her in inquisition, but Queen’s reasoning is interesting too.
Idk. Seems kinda silly to fight over to me
[update] And, no offense, Brunette, but what makes you the authority on who can or can’t reblog someone else’s post instead of making their own post? If it was your original post I could understand, but it’s literally someone else’s?
