A reminder and affirmation to fictives (especially those who are also fictionkin):
Any relationship you may have to your fictional identity is acceptable and valid.
If you identify fully and solely as the character of whom you are a fictive, that is acceptable and valid.
If you are a fictive who identifies as other characters due to being fictionkin, that is acceptable and valid.
If you were initially a fictional introject but ended up moving away from your original identity and now feel like you’re somebody else, that is acceptable and valid.
If you are a fictional introject who cannot in any way cease to identify as the character of whom you are a fictive, despite those who may want you to identify differently, that is acceptable and valid.
If you identify as more than one character, not because you’re fictionkin with them but because you are somehow a fictional introject of more than one character at once and are therefore legitimately a fictive of more than one character, that is acceptable and valid.
If you are a fictive who started off identifying as one character but discovered you were kin with another and now identify more strongly with that character, that is acceptable and valid.
If you are a fictive of a character who has a name (as most characters do) but you want to be called something different than your canonical name, that is acceptable and valid.
There is a difference between being a fictive (that is, a fictional introject who was literally a certain fictional character from the moment of their existence) and being fictionkin (that is, coming to identify as a fictional character after you came into being).
So long as you understand the difference and don’t misuse these terms (e.g. calling yourself a fictive when you are really fictionkin), it is acceptable and valid to be both fictive and kin, and to experience both in different ways.
There is no singular right way or wrong way to be a fictive, nor is there a singular way to be a fictive who is also fictionkin.
All ways of having this experience are acceptable and valid.
