MY LITTLE SISTER SURVIVED DEATH… BUT THE FIRE LEFT SCARS ON HER FACE IN GAZA.
My heart breaks for her when she looks in the mirror, and when other children avoid playing with her because of her face.
Guys, there is only one surgeon in Gaza who may be able to help her, but the treatment is very expensive. Please donate and share… you are her only hope.

On Our Backs, Winter 1988
Capitalist propaganda: "Monthly food rations per Polish citizen in the early to mid 1980s. But next time socialism will work."
Michael: "Can someone please explain why so many people still take socialism seriously? It has always failed badly, every sing time."
Comrade Jake: "This kind of propaganda completely falls apart when you understand that ration cards were not a limit on how much food you could have. They were a guarantee of your basic necessities. You could still buy surplus food in addition to your rations."
Based on my mom's experience living in Poland in the 70s and 80s, the ration cards were kind of a guarantee that people would get the basics. Often people could have afforded to buy more beyond that, but it just wasn't available. My mom often talks about how store shelves were empty except for vinegar. People knew what day food was delivered to the store and lined up to be able to get some before it ran out and shelves were empty again. That's part of why my mom was so awed when she first came to the US, and why she worked so hard to try and find a way to stay here and raise her kids here. Grocery stores with shelves and shelves of food you could just get any time? It was like a wonderland to her.
It's also part of why I have such a hard time talking to her about anything socialist. Because her experience of it is living under an oppressive Soviet puppet state. It is frustrating but also understandable, because even though I consider myself a socialist, it's hard to argue with someone who grew up and escaped a very fucked up version of it.
"People could have afforded more, but there was nothing on the store shelves" vs "The shelves are laden with unimaginable abundance, but no one can afford to buy it."
Pitching them against each other seems kinda pointless? Whether it was because the shelves were empty or because their pockets were empty, people still couldn’t buy more than the basics.
I’m no fan of capitalism, but the Soviet Union’s economic model didn’t work. There’s a reason why it imploded. Don’t even get me started on the systemic disregard for worker safety, product quality, or environmental sustainability. Or, y’know, the ruthless exploitation of its satellite states for the benefit of the metropole, which may have been why @butchblooms mother encountered empty shelves so often.
The Soviet Union was extremely fucked up, and its economic system was broken. That’s not capitalist propaganda, we have so many accounts and records and pictures and videos and everything to prove this. Acknowledging that doesn’t mean that the United States wasn’t/isn’t fucked up, or that its capitalist model isn’t also broken. Socialism isn’t limited to the Soviet Union and its mistakes.
THE GRIND NEVER STARTS ‼️🔥💯💯
No one ever gave a shit when my blog dissapeared bc I was never "nuked." But I was stalked and catfished and chased off this platform so much that I felt the need to deactivate TWICE. But bc it was my choice who cares.
And now im too uncomfortable to use my old username bc twerfs would harass me for it.
I am a trans musician and this is one of the only platforms I was ever taken seriously on. And I had lost my only platform.
A lot of us are nuked, its an extreme problem. But there's so many others who are harassed and stalked until they just cant take it anymore.
God you all need to be nicer to trans women. Fuck me.
they're still terming random transfems as i type this i see which does make quite a statement doing this today specifically
watched three girls who reblogged its new blog mutual aidpost (made literally 15 minutes ago) already disappear from its notifs. transfems are not included in their pride :/
QUITE the statement to be nuking transfems at the current accelerated pace right at the start of pride month like this, isn't it
This post is no more than two days old as of June 3rd, 2026. All of these blogs were nuked in two days or less.
somebody posted this Calvin and Hobbes strip and i cannot overstate just how topical this fuckin thing is
in happier pride news i actually found this deeply heartwarming
that's solidarity baybeeee
Further context: Durham city council (Reform UK) cut funding and support for Pride. The Durham Miner's Association and other trade unions raised enough money for Durham Pride 2026 to go ahead - a direct call back to when Lesbian and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) raised money for mining communities when Margaret Thatcher seized union funding during the miner strikes of 1984-85.
At the 1985 Labour party meet, the motion to support LGBT rights as a party was passed due to a block vote from mining unions.
Stephen Guy, the chair of the Durham Miners’ Association, said that when it became apparent Durham Pride was under threat, he took it upon himself to “encourage the trade union movement to step up and do the right thing, and stand shoulder to shoulder with the LGBT+ community […] They not only raised funds for us, but came to our communities, uplifted our spirits when they were down, and showed their solidarity.”
To our dismay, the artist and author Marjane Satrapi has passed away.
As she wrote, ordinary Americans and Iranians have more in common with each other than we do with either of our governments, which have far too much in common with each other.
We honor her memory and oppose the war.
Happy Pride! 🌈
when you’re a gay lion and you accidentally tried to introduce your lesbian lioness friend to one of her own exes at a gay bar and she goes into the bathroom and bitches you out for not being able to tell her endlessly rotating cast of girlfriends apart which isn’t really fair because first of all they all keep dyeing their hair different colors and second of all she keeps getting back together with different ones at different times and meanwhile you’ve been “single” for like 8 months but are spending a lot of time with one specific guy who works at your old co-op and were going to excitedly tell her about it tonight but now you’ve ruined the whole subject of dating by trying to introduce her to her own ex at a gay bar (which is a watering hole. because you’re lions.)
