Short Hiatus

Hi everyone!

So sorry to make this announcement, but as I get closer and closer to starting grad school I’m realizing I’m not going to have that sweet spot of free time before my semester begins-- throughout the rest of the summer I’m going to be scrambling to find a job, a place to live, and tie together about a million other loose ends having to do with grad school. And on top of that, it’ll probably take me a month or two to get used to both grad school and living away from home!

So I’m going to take a little hiatus here, but I promise, promise, promise, that I will be back! This year off between undergrad and grad school ended up being more hectic than I anticipated. But once I get my grad school ducks in a row I’ll be much more prepared to devote more time to my hobbies. Until then I’ve got to suck it up and pretty much not let myself take breaks. Wish me luck!

Role play blogs aren’t just about cliques and it shouldn’t be about who you’ve known the longest either. Well it should be but also- there are a lot of shy cinnamon rolls out there waiting for you. “The firefly festival is approaching.” No doubt Fern had been the one to tell him all about it. The Harvest King tried to stay out of human affairs and focus on his duties as a deity; very little about humanity had seemed to even interest him when they’d met. “Will you be going, Angela? Fern wanted to.”

There was a pause. “She also suggested I attend, but I am undecided.”

She glanced at him curiously. “Have you ever been? It’s a nice festival. A little somber for my usual tastes, but then again... there’s something nice about it.  I think people need a day to let themselves be sad once in a while. And the fireflies and the flower lanterns are really pretty! Kinda balances out the sad part.”

A day to honor the dead... Thankfully, she hadn’t yet lost anyone to the tragedy of death. She was young; her parents were still alive and well. One grandparent had passed when she was 2, but she figured that didn’t really count.

She wondered what the Harvest King thought of death. For the Harvest Goddess, it was an obvious source of grief. She was sentimental, with an everflowing and easily burdened heart. But the Harvest King was a practical man. And stoic, too. She could easily see someone like him (especially being an immortal deity) shrugging it off and saying something like “Man is born and then he dies. No sense dwelling on it.”

But then again, the Harvest King had a way of surprising her more often than not. And he certainly wouldn’t be able to keep up a stony countenance if he saw sweet little Fern crying for the villagers. But then that begged the question of: wait, did Fern even understand death?

“Does Fern even... understand what it means for someone to die? I mean, she’s really young, plus your kind don’t really kick the bucket. She might not really get it, y’know? Well then again, I guess kids have to learn that stuff sometime. Well it’s up to you if she goes, but I was gonna go. And I’d certainly be glad to see you there! 

She gasped, grasping for one of his arms. “And it would be our first festival in public together! Oh, that would be so cool to see you mingle with the villagers! And I could introduce you to all my friends! 

Just thinking about all the mischief they could get up to was making her giddy. “

“You’ve just gotta come. You gotta! Pleeeeease?!” she bounced up and down.

I’m actually done applying to programs, just waiting on interviews. And I was like, “Okay, that’s it. I’m really gonna start now. Updating fics, practicing drawing, being more active on rp account.”

But yeah, I’ve been trying to manage my blogs more effectively, and I figured today would be a good day to try tackling another. And here we are! Dreams do come true.

I’ve still be away for quite a while, haven’t I?

Well, applying to grad schools is much more work than you think. Plus, I’ve been doing research with my undergrad college. We presented our findings at a conference! And I was the second author listed on our poster! 

Anyway, I’m almost done applying for grad schools, so expect to see more of me soon. In other news, I currently have a horrible cold. Ugh, my throat. I feel like I’ve been shanked in the esophagus. Need... more... cough drops...

Ah James... A prince charming and a country boy kinda rolled into one. I think the fact that he loves travelling so much would be good for a girl like Angela, who loves things like exploring and meeting new people. If the farmwork ever got light enough to permit it (especially in winter when crops don’t really grow), I could see her hopping a boat to accompany him on a business trip and loving it. 

Romantically, I think they’d work just fine in the end, but Angela would have to be persistent what with James’ past with his ex. But Angela has a way of instilling confidence in others even when she’s not as patient or understanding as she should be, so I think in the end her good intentions would help them along. Like I said before, I can imagine them traveling to new places together, and falling in love on the open seas... >////< Just being able to lounge around and have these nice private talks under the stars would be super romantic!

HEWW FUKKIN YEAH

Luke and Angela, I feel would be one of those couples that’s always perfectly in sync. They’re both a bit off the wall, clumsy, firey, not super organized. But it always works out for them in the end, and maybe that’s because they’re both so laid back that they don’t let stress get in the way of them getting things done.

Funny thing is, I can’t decide who’d be making the moves first and yet somehow that’s one of the most charming things about this ship! I get a feeling their first kiss is them both being just like, super pumped up on adrenaline and both their heads are screaming GO FOR IT DUDE OMG and they end up kinda just ramming faces in their enthusiasm. They give it another go once they can stop laughing. On another note, their kids would be the most reckless people ever born in Harmonica town probably, and would give Gill and his progeny a heart attack on a daily basis.

Farmers had to wake up very early be able to get their work done before the hottest rays of the sun beat them into submission. That being said, it didn’t mean Angela was particularly good at being an early riser. Most days, she stumbled out of the front door of her house, still half asleep. And today, the walk all the way to the Garmon Mine district was doing a fairly good job of waking her up, but she could’t help cracking a good, long yawn before activating the teleportation stone at the base of the mountain.

“Wakey wakey, eggs ‘n bakey!” she called lazily as she descended the steps, an unorthodox offering of a breakfast plate in her hands.
