i made a thread on bsky because some rando on here got upset that I didn't censor my transgender OC'S deadname in a drawing depicting a flashback with his mom and like, i really do forget most people want their queer stories to be weirdly sanitized and unproblematic especially if it's made by an independent queer artist. it really does reek of entitlement and scrubbing off the lived experiences of people.

sorry y'all are raised on corporate mandated slop that only confirms queer characters through twitter or is riddle with queer/transmisogynistic tropes and stereotypes.

I will use her example to show that you people don't give a shit about authentic queer stories and want to do weird purity testing on art and experiences that don't link up to your own because it makes you mega uncomfortable. that's the point, life is uncomfortable and artists are allowed to express that discomfort in many ways. don't be reactionary.

i love trans art and queer art that is explicitly transgender and doesn't shy away from our uncomfortable and joyous experiences simultaneously. trying to make a perfect story with perfect flawless characters and cushioning uneasy situations or scenes will just become nothing more than performative and shallow work of art that is relatable to nobody except cis consumers who don't see trans people as nuanced or tenderqueers who only see queerness as a fun little sfw label and not something a person embraces and lives with in a messy complicated manner.

also big big love to trans characters in these stories that are visibly trans/clocky and express their transness in many ways and aren't perfect flawless cisgender-passing skinny white people with a trans sticker slapped on them.

hell even the white trans people I've seen have different body types especially if they medically transitioned.
