The Illyrians when Nesta arrives
As High Lady, I hosted weekly open audiences with Rhys at the House of Wind. The requests ranged from the smallāa faelight lamppost was brokenāto the complicatedācould we please stop importing goods from other courts because it impacted local artisans.
- ACOFAS, Ch. 4
I'm sorry. Can someone explain what "hosted weekly open audiences" means here? Because it sounds like Feyre & Rhys are holding court from the top of a mountain in a house that, famously, people EITHER have to walk up 10,000 steps to access OR fly to because winnowing and other magics are magically forbidden.
.....girl what.
Yep. Theres a quote that alludes to the fact that if their needs are "important enough" they will "find a way" to get to the top of the HoW.
How fucking awful can you be as leaders?
This is for everyone with teenagers: check what books they are reading! Take the time and go through their TBRs and their rooms.
I found Haunting Adeline in my 13yo daughter's room this weekend. She said she got it from a friend at school, and it's a part of an exchange.
The mortified state I've been in this weekend, I would not wish on anyone.
34 chapter, 480 pages later, and Casteel's character assassination keeps getting worse and worse. He's threatened everyone away from Poppy, gatekeeps people from seeing her, even breaks someone's fingers - what the fuck is this!? This isn't swoonworthy. This isn't sexy. This is Rhysand on steroids and I hate it here.
I'm just a girl reading Primal of Blood and Bone, and at 202 pages, I can easily say, "This should have been an email." And what is up with "Sweetheart"? Take me back to Hawke Flynn and the 1st book. The character assassination in POBAB is atrocious!
Hey look - Holly Black releases a teaser of a book WITH A COVER! A certain other fae author could take a lesson from that...

Iām not watching this podcast but from the group chat updates all I can say is it sounds like SJM would take last place in a bar trivia night of her own books

rhys is bein weird
It was a solid idea. ButāāIt can wait. I want you home for Solstice.ā āI donāt mindāā āI want you home. In Velaris,ā I added when he opened his mouth to spew some Illyrian loyalist bullshit that he still believed, even after they had treated him like less than nothing his entire life. āWeāre spending Solstice together. All of us.ā Even if I had to give them a direct order as High Lord to do it. ACOFAS Chapter 2
sooo cassian cant spend a special holiday with his people because rhysand believes that ever single illyrian treats cassian like shit? he has to order him around for family affairs?
and even if they dont fully respect him, who is he to stop cassian from trying to connect with his culture and bond with his people. just because rhys uses his illyrian heritage when it suits him doesn't mean cassian is abandoning that part of himself too.
then cassian thinks "Rhys wanted him home for the Solstice, and heād obey" do they not see the problems with this?? hes seems fine to obey him but it's still weid that "obeying" is even brought up when it comes to ones own holiday plans.
another disservice from sjm where she turns away every opportunity to give illyria depth
Saw this on Twitter š¤£š¤£š¤£ and this is so true. I can't even deny.
I also went to Goodreads to read this one again š¤£š¤£š¤£
Sweet Red Riding Hood by Anthony Jean
My snuggle puppy. Claimed the seat from my 8yo.
Old Nan quite literally lives rent-free in every Stark childās brain like the original Northern horror podcast. Itās hilarious because she wasnāt even trying to be scary that was just her bedtime routine. Other Westerosi kids got lullabies; the Stark kids got: āOnce, my sweet summer child, the Others came and the sun died and everyone you love turned into ice-zombies anyway, sleep tight :)ā
And the thing is⦠it sticks. Every single Stark kid, no matter where they are, no matter what trauma theyāre experiencing, will suddenly remember one of her nightmare fables at the WORST possible moment.
She turned Winterfell into a place where the past is alive, where the Long Night is not a myth but a warning, where names like āthe Last Heroā or āthe Nightās Kingā sit in the back of your skull until the moment you realize maybe she wasnāt making anything up at all. Old Nan didnāt traumatize them accidentally she prepared them. In her own crooked, spooky way, she gave every Stark child the education they actually needed to survive the story they were about to enter.
