24 hours later, some thoughts, on the other side of the five stages of grief

So I've come to the conclusion that I actually like the ending. WOAAAHHHH TOMATO TOMATO TOMATO no don't get it twisted, I don't LOVE it, but the idea makes sense. I've come to terms with it.

What I CANNOT come to terms with is that it lowkey feels like Crowley gives up on any chance of a life with aziraphale. He's wanted to run off with him for 2 seasons and now that he gets to ask GOD HERSELF to reshape the world as THEY WANT IT he doesn't even stop to consider like hey, maybe I wanna spend time with Aziraphale. Especially after he hears from Aziraphale and again, GOD HERSELF, that he loves him back. That plus the lack of a proper kiss made it kind of feel like they were trying to make it seem like Crowley had lost his romantic feelings for Aziraphale but that might just be me.....

Speaking of the kiss, I'm not too mad that there wasn't one. As an aspec person I love when love is expressed in other ways, but they didn't even HUG??? A little hand holding?? That's it??????? Nah that doesn't sit right with me.

In my personal ideal ending, they get to be together as they are for all eternity because they deserve that. If I only got to change small things and end up with the same human ending, I would've made their goodbye different.

A lot of people are upset (rightfully) that the versions of them that got a happy ending was not them, which I do somewhat agree with. But also, is that not them to a t? Crowley still loves his stars, Aziraphale still loves his books. They go to dinner together. They love each other. They bicker like an old married couple because that's what they are. They loved humanity and whether their souls still remember it or not, they became what they loved and found each other.

Should it have stayed in fanfiction? Probably. Is it a pretty decent ending considering the hoops the cast and crew had to go through to make this happen? Absolutely.

The emphasis of platonic relationships in PHM and the fact that aroace grace is such a common headcanon is so special to me. Like YES! platonic love is just as important and valuable and beautiful as romantic love. I will never get over this book/movie it's just so. Yeah. Yeah.

so grace is probably alarming to most eridians at first because he's a lanky wet alien with too few limbs, yes--but what if he ends up being terrifying in a sort of divine way instead of a repulsive one?

like. a creature that perceives the intangible? a creature that walks with thin permeable membranes bared to the air, whose blood contains elixir that can destroy pathogens without heat? a creature that is impossibly fragile yet resilient? a creature that breathes potently flammable gas to survive? a creature that is loud all over and speaks in a strange and frightening monotone, who thought it would die for you? who gave up its home in the heavens for you without meeting you first, whose first words to your people were probably something along the lines of We saved your star. It's gonna be okay. Don't be afraid.
