This moss is called Old Man’s Beard. It’s all over the forests of Patagonia. Scientists study it because it is incredibly sensitive to pollutants in the air. It can only grow in the purest places in the world. I love fragile and sensitive things. They let us know that there are still some safe places.

Give me a house in the woods with a hidden lake a mile down the trees. Give me mountains and valleys surrounding my home where I have wooden floors and ceiling high windows. Give me a garden to water, coffee to brew, and food to cook. I know this is maybe a little too specific, but it’ll make me happy. And there’s nothing wrong with being too specific or happy.
