DOES ANYONE CARE ABOUT GARGOYLES I MADE A GARGOYLES SORA
The design was kind of tricky to get ahold of, I felt nervous choosing a specific Sora to take after, but I ended up landing on KH3 Sora cause... That's just my favorite, I guess... His face and build definitely run more closely to KH2 Sora, so maybe it's best to just use your imagination LOL
I was also unsure what to do with his face, considering most of the gargoyles have VERY strong eyebrows. I knew I wanted to make him a cat-like gargoyle, considering his beta designs shared a lot of lion aspects, so I ended up using these-- which I found on pinterest
For his eyebrows, I chose to use a big crown much like Demona, but I was also looking at Elisa's demon form to figure out what he would look like. Additionally, I really like the other's webbed ears, so he has big ol fins like Bronx, Brooklyn, Broadway and Lexington. I was also looking at them very closely when choosing Sora's expressions
The outfit was also a little difficult. I knew I needed belts, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to do one BIG belt with two little ones, or just the two. I decided that it was best to stick with the little two, as Sora does tend to look extremely complex compared to other Disney characters, but I also figured I shouldn't overdo it. I was picturing the animators painstakingly drawing his outfit every time... Which would never happen, I just thought he would blend better this way
HIS HAIR. UGH. Drove me nuts. I decided to stick to KH2's hairstyle accurately until it looked ASS. BECAUSE IM BAD AT THIS. Anyways, I tried to go for Sora's KH3 hair because I like how the underside looks like a crown (which would match the other crown motifs I "snuck" into his outfit), but I don't think I sold it with the simplified style unfortunately, he looks very KH1.
The colors were based off of KH3's outfit the most, but I knew I wanted to lean more to a primary color scheme like his older designs, unlike DDD and KH3 which stay red, black, and yellow. For his skin, I went with a grey because I found it inoffensive to the design and... Well, I hate how Elisa kept her human skin in Gargoyle form, I just found it kind of uncanny next to all of the colorful gargoyles. I also decided that he would be a little bigger, so I drew his Keyblade a little smaller than I would have, but I don't think I'd sell the solution without like a comparison chart or something lol
Anyways shout out to all 5 gargoyles fans on Tumblr I love you guys, I'm debating on writing a series of Kingdom Hearts/Disney Afternoon adventures with like Rescue Rangers, DuckTales, Darkwing and obviously Gargoyles... I dunno but keep an eye out if you care LMAOOOO
Little-Golden-Book-esque Spryo gouache painting. Still can't get my head around that we're actually getting another one. Dawn of the Dragon was (and I'm coming to find for others too) a favorite to play with my brother as a kid (any quality issues were stubbornly ignored). Assumed the legacy was just going to end there!
There will never be another game like Final Fantasy XV because it's a whole ass triple A title that stumbled backwards into accurately portraying the intense boredom and low level existential crisis of going on a roadtrip with your college friends. This was accomplished by having it stuck in development hell for ten years.
It's an open world game that actively sucks to explore. The clock on the dashboard works in game even though you literally cannot see it without mods. There's whole swathes of interesting locations that are alluded to but the primary setting is the empty plains of midwest america. There's bespoke animations for your party members complaining about a rock in their shoe. The entire magic system is completely inscrutable. It has maybe the most masterful emotional storytelling through sheer UI choices that I have ever seen in a video game. We had to ask one of the creative heads of the project to leave seven years into development because he got really invested in making the game a musical.
It's like lightning in a bottle, but way less awe-inspiring. Tempest in an empty mayo jar.
