“In all the times he looked into his eyes in the blistering cold drenched in darkness, he felt his heart lurch. Looking at him was as horrifying as it was when he was falling to his demise, like he was mourning a death that hadn’t happened. This was the most impactful moment of their friendship yet, the most intense and serious - the closest. Emotionally and physically. It was almost muscle memory the way they grasped each other, although they’d never done it before. Maybe time really isn’t linear, maybe it’s going backwards. This feels so familiar and right because it already happened in the future. Hopefully it won’t take giving up the ground beneath my feet next time. “
